Perfect! I made this and for the first time ever…my oldest son asked for seconds. My husband LOVED this roast. Added cornstarch to the remaining juice and it was a wonderful gravy! Thank you Crockin Girls!

This is my husband’s absolute favorite. He could eat this every day of the week! I thicken up the juice with a little cornstarch after the roast is done and it makes the perfect gravy to eat alongside mashed potatoes. I feel it can taste a tad salty but if you use the lower sodium brown gravy packet it helps remedy that a little.

One of my favorite go to recipes! I even make this up and freeze it before cooking it with the spices already on it. That way I can just dump it into the crockpot and add water and head out the door. Delicious! I have used pork roasts too and it tastes just as awesome. Use the liquid leftover for gravy!!

I was rather skeptical when I read this recipe, but I decided to try it anyway. It was delicious! i still can’t believe something so easy to prepare tasted so good. I threw potatoes and carrots in with the roast. Everything was so tasty, and the gravy it made was super. I will definitely make this again and share this recipe.

I’d guess 2-3T, Sarah. Since you’re crockin’ this recipe on the longer side, I would use 3T.

Can you tell about how many tablespoons are in a packet of dry mix? I buy my ranch and Italian dressing mixes in bulk and can never remember! Thanks!! I can’t wait to try this one!!

YAY! Glad to hear your families like this one! And thanks for the make-over meal ideas for it too, Judy.
    Andria…couple of ideas:
Crock overnight while you sleep and then it’s done when you wake up for dinner. Just re-heat.
    OR
Crock on high for the first hour and then turn down to low. That would shave off about an hour of the cook time. I wouldn’t cook it the whole time on high though. We really like to do roast low and slow, because the meat is just so much more tender.

My kids are VERY picky, but love this Roast, they even put it on thier FAVORITES LIST…and that says a lot! :) This recipe and the Beef Stroganoff w/cream cheese is two of the best recipes I’ve found soo far, that they love. Def a HUGE shout-out to whoever came up with this one!! My only question with the Roast is has anyone ever put thier crock pot on HIGH? and if so how long did it take? I tend to run a bit late putting it in and 7 hours on low is hard because it seems we never eat before 8pm…any replies would be helpful!! Thank you soo much and happy crockin :)

We are not fans of any canned “cream of whatever” soups, and I’ve tried dozens of recipes for beef in the crock pot, and not liked any of them. This truly is the best crockpot roast ever; my family loves it. I make as much as will fit in my crockpot, especially when I can buy one get one free on the roasts, which my local grocery store runs about once a month. I shred the leftover meat with two forks, add all the leftover gravy, and we have shredded beef on kaiser rolls later in the week. The shredded meat soaks up all the gravy, so you just have to heat it quickly (I use the microwave for this) and dinner is served. Sometimes, it doesn’t even get heated; it’s good cold with a splash of mustard, too. :-) Kudos to the person who submitted this recipe!

I agree. My boyfriend brags on it all the time. He request it once a week at least. The gravy is out of this world.

Love this roast recipe. It truly is “to die for”. I always add potatoes, carrots and sometimes an onion to the bottom of the crock pot first. Then I put the roast on top followed by the remaining ingredients as the recipe calls for. Awesome!

This is hands down the best pot roast recipe I have made! My boyfriend fell in love with it immediately and even his 6 and 10 year old love it. I add carrots, potatoes, and crimini mushrooms at about the 7 hour mark and let it all go for the final 2 hours. Wonderful!
