Spaghetti Casserole – Tasty slow cooked casserole


  • 1.5 Pounds Ground Round
  • 1 Large Onion, chopped
  • 1 Jar Spaghetti Sauce
  • 1/4 Cup Butter
  • 1/4 Cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 Can Evaporated Milk
  • 1/2 Cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Pepper
  • 8 Ounces Uncooked Spaghetti, broken up
  • 3 Cups Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • Extra Parmesan Cheese, grated


  1. Step One

    Cook ground round and onion in large skillet, stirring until beef crumbles and is no longer pink; drain meat, and return to skillet.

  2. Step Two

    Stir pasta sauce into beef mixture.

  3. Step Three

    Melt butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat; whisk in flour until smooth. Cook 1 minute, whisking constantly.

  4. Step Four

    Gradually whisk in milk; cook over medium heat, whisking constantly 8 minutes or until mixture is thickened and bubbly.

  5. Step Five

    Remove from heat, and stir in 1/2 cup parmesan cheese and pepper.

  6. Step Six

    Spoon one-third of meat mixture into lightly greased 5 quart slow cooker.

  7. Step Seven

    Spread half of broken spaghetti over meat, pour half of white sauce over noodles, and sprinkle with 1 cup Cheddar cheese. Repeat layers once.

  8. Step Eight

    Spread remaining meat mixture over cheese.

  9. Step Nine

    Top with remaining 1 cup Cheddar cheese.

  10. Step Ten

    Cover and cook on Low 4 hours.

    This was very good… I (always seem to have) half a crock left so I froze the leftovers to eat at a later date… Hope it keeps ok. The kids said it tasted like lasagna! They still ate it, but like the “traditional” spaghetti better! Kids will be kids!! ;) Will definitely make this one again!!!

    This was really, really good! I did everything but cook it in the slow cooker the night before and it was perfect. My mom did everything the day-of and the pasta was a little chewy. I’m guessing making it the night before and letting the pasta soak up the juices from the spaghetti sauce helped. This is a definite keeper!
