Southern Style Red Beans – A tasty recipe for the slow cooker

Ingredients

  • 2 Pounds Pinto beans, washed
  • 1 Medium onion, chopped
  • 1 Can Diced tomatoes
  • 1 Jalapeno pepper, seeded, or 1 small can chopped green chilis
  • 2 Slices bacon, or salt pork
  • Black pepper to taste, no salt until beans are soft

Directions

  1. Step One

    Use large slow cooker and fill with water up to 2 inches from top.

  2. Step Two

    Turn them on high before going to bed, and then the next morning, turn to low and simmer all day.
