Michelle
Can fresh salsa be used in this? It is all I have. Thanks!
CRYSTAL
Easy to make! My 2 and 8 year old asked for seconds!

New here and was wondering where can I go to find out the calorie totals of all these yummy recipes? Trying to eat healthy on a limited cook time. Already made salsa chicken and family loved it! Thanks ladies!
Myra
Ohhh, ladies, thank you for a EASY, complaint-free dinner! YUMMM’s are priceless :)

Leah, I think so. I would add the spinach before I add the sauce. Good way to get your veggies in there.
Leah
Would this recipe work with a bag of fresh spinach added to it? Thanks!

Sarah…it’s the 10 3/4 size can. If a recipe doesn’t specify, I always go for the regular size and not the family size.
So sorry Leslie :( Hate it when a recipe doesn’t turn out like you hoped. If your chicken was dry though, it sounds like it might have cooked too long. The newer crocks on the market cook hotter than the older slow cookers and you don’t have to cook your food as long (or it will dry out). Some of the new ones even boil on low after a few hours. That’s not real slow cookin’….
Better crockin’ luck next time girl :)
Sarah
I was curious, when you say a can of soup what size can are ya’ll talking about? The smaller cans or the larger cans? Thankies :D
Amanda
Very good, they house smelled so yummy while this was in the crock pot. Excellent over rice. Whole family enjoyed.
Leslie
We didn’t much care for this..the chicken was very dry. And just the taste of it was yuck. Sorry

100% my fav thing on this web site

THIS WAS DELISH! Everyone gobbled it up like starvin’ wild dogs. I sprinkled a little cheese on top and served it over brown rice. Will def make again But this time add a little less taco seasoning and add black beans or something. Smelled like chili…..was tasty :) :)
Michelle
Loved it!
Kelly
The first recipe I have EVER made in a crock pot. So easy and very tasty. The whole family enjoyed it…..I will be making this one again!
Jen
Question: is it just as good without sour cream?
Heather
This has been my favorite recipe!! Actually the first recipe I tried from Crockin Girls!! It is so versatile! We love it served over mashed potatoes! The best part though is, we always have some left overs ( I make sure to save some). And we make chicken quesadillas out of the chicken mixture the next day!! All you do is get some tortillas and mexican blend cheese. Spread a thin layer of the chicken mixture on half the tortilla, sprinkle some cheese on the chicken mixture that is on the tortilla, fold the tortilla in half. And cook in a medium heated skillet on the stove. Cook a minute or two on each side. And your quesadilla is done!! Serve with salsa or sour cream!!
Donna
so easy and delicious!

About 4 hours on HIGH, Donna!
Donna
Hi Girls I dont have 8 hours to cook this on low how long do I cook it on high?
Lisa J.
Love this recipe! It was really simple and easy to put together. I used fresh chicken breasts and cooked them for about 7 hours. I also added a side of black beans. Delicious!
Andrea R.
This was delicious! My family loved it. I also liked that I had all of the ingredients at home. Was looking for a quick supper idea, and this was perfect!

cRock on! It’s always a good feeling when you find something your families can’t get enough of at dinnertime! Happy Crockin’, Y’all!

This was dinner tonight. Everyone loved it! I’ve done a salsa chicken in the oven so I was sure it’d be a hit, but I wasn’t expecting the enthusiasm it received from my kids. They both actually to have the left overs (I made extra) in their lunch boxes. Impressive!
EAS
Very good. I made it for my grandchildren. it was a hit.

Made this for dinner tonight & it was a hit. I was fearful that I wouldn’t have enough sauce, so I doubled the sauce, but not the chicken. That was a mistake! We did decide that the sauce was a good chip dip, so we have plenty of leftovers for that. I also added corn, black beans & mexican cheese to the sauce. Next time I will (at least) double the chicken. I served it with Spanish Rice and white corn chips. Definitely going into the dinner rotation!

One of our favorites….Next time I will add more chicken breasts. There’s plenty of sauce.
This is great. I’m adding another chicken breast or two next time. There’s plenty of sauce.
Lisa
To be honest, this dish did not look very appetizing at all. It reminded me of the night we ate at a local Indian restaurant! Happy that I continued with the meal because it tasted wonderful. Both my daughters woofed down 2 plates each and I had to make a 2nd bowl of rice! I used 2 1/4 lbs of chicken tenderloins and it still barely fed the 4 of us! Active girls mean active eaters! I also added 1 sliced onion on top when I placed in the crock. Another keeper!
Lisa
This recipe on the menu for tonight. Can’t wait to try it! I’m doing 3-4 new recipes a week and this is week 3. So far only 1 that I won’t repeat. Thinking of using chicken tenderloins instead of breasts. Will let you know!
Crockin Girls
Lol! Thanks for sharing!

This is the very first recipe I have tried on here. HUGE hit, family loved it. This recipe made me go out food shopping to get ingredients for about 6 more meals to try and 3 desserts. Thanks so much for all the great recipes. I love your site. Really don’t like to cook much (I am more of a baker) but I do love my crock pot, so I am so glad I found you! No more feeling guilty for not making nice home made meals for my family anymore!
Jenny
Thanks for answering my questions. I made this tonight, and my husband and I LOVED it!!! You would have thought he hadn’t eaten in a week the way he was devouring it. :) I added the black beans like another reviewer suggested, and I doubled the sauce ingredients with just over 2 lbs. of chicken. We ate it tonight and can’t wait for leftovers tomorrow night!!
Crockin Girls
It really comes down to a personal choice. We both use frozen chicken in our cooker and have never had a problem. If you want to thaw the chicken first, take off some of the cooking time so it does not dry out.
Jenny
The instruction manual for my crockpot says not to use frozen meat, but to thaw it first. Is that true?
Crockin Girls
It’s really up to your taste. I would probably increase the amount of taco seasoning and sour cream.
Jenny
If using 2 pounds of chicken, should I increase the other ingredients?
Crockin Girls
You can easily substitute cream of celery or onion for the mushroom. No problems.
jay_20906
I don’t like mushroom what can i use in its place?
Crockin Girls
Great tip, Lori! Thanks and Happy Crockin’, Y’all!
Lori
I have a variation of this recipe to cut back on sodium from the taco mix. I use 3 TBS of Lime Juice and 3 TBS of cili powder. The rest of recipe is the same. I do not have left overs unless I fix a double batch. We have rice with this and turn it into tacos with all of the trimming.
Kristin V.
We try to stick to the “healthier” recipes on your site and this is by far our FAVORITE! We add a can of black beans and nix the sour cream, then serve over brown rice. SO good and SO easy! Great leftovers for the week too. Thank you ladies for all your tasty, HEALTHIER dishes!
Tabitha A.
Made this last night and it was super yummy! I added two cups of corn.
I have a rival stoneware crock pot and my dinner was cooked in 5 hours. Good thing I was home to shut it off!
Served it over rice.
I’m excited for my husband to try it and see if he likes it. Is going to be great for left overs!
Chelsea B.
This is so good! I even made it twice in one week! My family enjoyed it very much!
