This recipe is AMAZING! I used a Malbec instead and added mushrooms at the very end. Our kids loved it(7 and 4). I thought it was fabulous. My husband was still talking about it hours later. He said it was the best meal I’ve ever made and I know I’ve made some pretty darn good meals, so it was very impressionable. We would pay for something like this in a high end restaurant.

This recipe is absolutely fantastic! I can’t believe more people have not reviewed this, because this is by far the best slow cooker recipe I’ve tried. I have no doubt you can use any red wine you have on hand, but I did use Merlot and it was amazing! My only regret is that I used 2 pounds of ribs (because that’s what I bought, didn’t read the recipe before I went shopping). It was only my husband and me, so two pounds was fine, but not enough leftovers. My husband said these were the best ribs ever made, which says a lot, because he comes from a family of amazing cooks who have never met a rib they can’t conquer. I think part of the key to this recipe is the bone-in flavor of short ribs. Not sure if it will turn out quite as rich and tasty if boneless ribs are used. I’m anxious to try this cooking liquid with other types of bone-in beef to see if the flavor is just as rich and delicious. Definitely a keeper!

Made these tonight. The husband loved them. Used a Cabernet instead of a Merlot, cause thats what I had laying around.
