Kimberly, your crock could definitely be cooking unevenly, but try our recipe next time. See if it turns out better … http://crockingirls.com/recipes/pineapple-upside-down-cake-2/

I made this to take to my in-laws for dinner tonight; I used my new crock-pot. One side was beginning to burn, the toothpick came out clean but when I flipped it out onto the platter the one side was not cooked entirely. What was cooked was very moist and delicious. They told me I needed to make another one soon so I could see if my new crock has a problem! LOL

It’s just a thin dish towel you would use to dry the dishes with, Cathy. You put the tea towels over the slow cooker and then your lid on top so they can catch all the condensation that builds up on your lid and it doesn’t drip onto your cake. Hope this helps!

What are tea towels?

If you have some help then you can hold the cake while someone else flips the crock over. Then gently let the cake fall onto your serving plate. Otherwise, feel free to serve it out of the crock, girl!

A tea towel is like a flour sack towel. They are thin and are used to dry dishes with. A lot of people embroider them with designs.
