Used 6-quart slow cooker

Cook Time 8 hrs
Temp Low

Passed down from Nicole's Nanee, this recipe will have your family gathered around the table and asking for more. Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and green beans definitely call for a gathering at this household. Yummy!

Ingredients

  • 2 Pounds extra lean ground beef
  • 1 small Can tomato sauce
  • 1 small onion, chopped finely
  • 1 Cup ketchup
  • 1 egg
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Step One

Spray the bottom of the crock with non-stick spray. In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients and mix with hands.

  2. Step Two

Place meatloaf mixture into the slow cooker and shape with hands to where edges of the meatloaf are not touching the crock.

  3. Step Three

Top with more ketchup and spread over meatloaf. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours.

New to crockin and made this tonight. It turned out great minus it being a tad burnt. I used only 1lb of hamburger instead of 2. I added bread crumbs to it because i added to much tomato sauce and then i added italian seasoning, garlic powder, season salt, onion flakes(because we dont like onions) and salt and pepper, I added a small amount of water to the bottom and i put it on high for 4-5 hrs and the bottom got a tad crispy/burnt but it was still good. So next time I will use 2lbs of hamburger instead of the 1lb i used and I think I will add more water to the bottom and do the same thing and hopefully it turns out a bit better. But my husband loved it and we will definitely make again.

Just a quick question…..I forgot to put this on this morning, but I was going to put it on at lunch when I go home. Do you think that I could cook it on high for about 4-5 hours?

Turned out perfect! Hubby is on a lower carb diet so this version was great! No bread crumbs for now. Used low carb & low sugar products with the tomatoes & ketchup. Season it to your taste! I always use salt & pepper but also garlic, Itailian seasoning, parsley, etc.

I use almost this same recipe that was from my mother. However I add chopped bell pepper and use tomato sauce on top. I also add either crushed saltine crackers or plain oats which keeps the meatloaf from falling apart. Delish!

I have to say that this meatloaf recipe is the first recipe on here that I haven’t liked. Oh well, I guess I can’t expect to like them ALL. Love your cookbook though!! I use it all the time.

Oh no, Rosie. I am so sorry this recipe was a flop for you. It’s a family recipe so we love it.

This was not good. I don’t even know where to begin. The meat completely fell apart, had no flavor. Note to self, ground beef does not a meatloaf make. I would pass on this.

Absolutely luv your crock in recipies. I just purchased my 3rd crockpot—-the one u can place on stovetop. It would be so helpful if after you place all ingredients in crockpot that we the viewers actually see what it looks like. For instance I made loaded potato soup… You really need to follow through to end of recipie when you mash potatoes and add cream and cheese. It would help to see complete recipes. Soup came out great. Keep on crockin! Btw I am from buffalo ny…jealous of Texas weather
