Red Beans and Rice
Ingredients
- 1 Pound Dried red beans
- 7 Cups Water
- 1 Small onion, chopped
- Ham bone or ham hocks
- 3 Garlic cloves, chopped
- 1/2 Pound Hot Smoked sausage, sliced
- 1 Tablespoon Creole seasoning
Directions

Step One
Rinse beans.

Step Two
In the slow cooker place all ingredients.

Step Three
Cook on low for 7 hours or until the beans are tender.

Step Four
If you want less juice just mash the beans while it cooks.

Step Five
Serve over cooked rice.

It’s up to you. I know soaking the beans helps with some of the “effects” that the beans can cause…lol!

Hey, did you know you can make rice in the crockpot? It always comes out perfect for me.
All you need to do is combine 1 cup of uncooked long grain rice, 2 cups of water, 1/2 tsp. salt and 1/2 Tbsp. of butter. Cover and cook on low 4-6 hours or on high 2-3 hours, or until rice is fully cooked. Fluff with a fork before serving.
