You don’t have to Cindy, but it does help to seal in the juices.

I made this last night for the very first time and this is my first crocken recipe off this site and lets just say no leftovers and a huge hit with my fiance! i changed a few things tho in stead of the Lipton Beefy Onion soup mix that i couldnt find at all i used knorr/Lipton Savory Herb with Garlic soup mix to coat the beef afterwards and i added cellery and carrots and fresh mushrooms and onions to it and called it a day!

And tonight im going to make a chicken soup off here just not sure yet what one they all look sooo good! Since my fiance is sounding like he is getting sick…. thank u crockin girls for making this wonderful site :)

Sure, Brooke! Use what you like…cream of celery, potato, chicken…whatever! That’s what makes slow cookin’ so great!!!! I think trying cream of potato sounds yummy!

I love this recipe. It’s delicious. But I was wondering if there’s another kind of soup I could substitute for the cream of mushroom because my boyfriend absolutely will not eat mushrooms. Lol

Actually, this is one of my favorites, and you really don’t have to sear the meat first. I put my meat in still a little frozen.
It is great for moms who are gone for long hours in the day, like me, 10 hours is usually too long for a lot of recipes, and this one is still perfect. LOVE IT!

I have to tell you this recipe was awesome. I ended up adding some beef broth to it to make it a little more soupy. The flavoring was so good and so easy to make. My family are picky eaters. This is going to be a standard in our house. Thank you so much for sharing. Looking for me

I submitted this recipe to you, but the directions are not complete! first, you need to sear the beef cubes (2 inch)in hot oil and then add the onion soup mix when browned. Stir and cook a few more minutes. Layer the beef in bottom of crock pot. Mix the cheddar soup and cream of mushroom soup together and pur over the beef. Best if served on hot mashed potatoes (noodles or rice are good too).
