My computer is giving me some cryptic hieroglyphics on some of the numbers in the recipe.
Does it say 1 to 1-1/2 hours on HIGH and 3-4 hours on LOW?

I have not tried this yet. But I am going to, sounds delish!! I think I may try it with some shredded cabbage in it also.
Molly
I thought it was good but not a favorite. Kids and hubby didn’t love it either. I thought it was a little sweet. We don’t like jalapeños or Tabasco, though, so that may have cut the sweetness.
Jennifer
we love this one!!! Its a keeper and I passed it onto my daughter and now she makes it for her family!

The men in my house love corn and tomatoes so I added a can of corn and cut up a container of cherry tomatoes. They absolutely loved it. Thanks for adding to my list of dinner meals.

I feel bad admitting this, but I made this in a regular pan on a regular stove tonight….but the combination of the ingredients was amazing!! Instead of tabasco and a jalapeno, I used a dab of spicy Thai chili to get the heat! My husband wants this on a weekly basis, which is great because it is so easy!

Ive seen the recipe several times…just kept putting off making it. Made it today and it was a home run at my house…just regret not making it sooner!!!! This recipe is a keeper!

my family loves this and very easy to make!

Yes Ellen! Use what y’all like and make it your own girl :)

I need to know if its ok to use tapato sauce instead of Tabasco??
Jessica
we loved this recipe it was simple enough that my boyfriend was able to fix it-love it next time we are going to double the recipe because we wanted more and it was ALL GONE!!
thanks ladies
Melanie

Thanks, Diane! We’re always looking for gluten-free recipes!

This was delicious going in the crock pot as it was when it was done. The family loved it. Super easy, and again it’s delicious!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this recipe! I can find all the ingredients gluten free. Throw it in the crock pot before school, make some rice that evening. EASY! I’m thinking about trying this with chicken. I doubled the recipe once….two of everything even the jalepeno. Unless you like it very spicy only use one jalepeno.
Kim
I made this today and I LOVE it. I made a few changes tho, i put 1/2 cup of sweet n sour sauce and I used fresh Pineapple. I only put a bit of the Jalapeno and a little bit of hot sauce. Since I’m getting older I can’t eat a lot of hot foods. This was sooo delish! shared it with my FB friends. Next time I’m going to use chicken.

So glad y’all found another recipe to add to your rotations!

I made this tonight for dinner and did exactly what the recipe calls for- even using the Tabasco sauce and jalepeno! Way too spicy for me so next time I will most definitely be cutting back:) I used turkey sausage and served it over rice. Nice healthy recipe minus the sauce. Definitely keeping it on the list just with less spice. Thanks girls!

I’ve got to be straight up honest – I didn’t think this recipe would be very good whatsoever. I was super surprised! My husband asked me what I was cooking when he got home because it smelled wonderful. This dish was excellent! A nice change from our usual chicken and/or beef recipes. I had all the ingredients except jalapeño on hand and don’t think we would have missed it either way. And since we don’t care for overly spicy dishes I also cut back on the Tabasco. I served this over rice and with a side of black beans. This recipe is a new family favorite :)

Don’t have to brown it first…just dump it all in and it cooks in the crock! So YUMMY and easy!
Amanda V.
Do you brown the sausage before placing in the crock pot? Or will it cook during the hour and a half on high?
Tonia
Loved this I subbed Turkey Sausage and served it over rice and it turned out great
Carly
This was great! I left the Tabasco sauce out. Too spicy for me. I thought it was yummy. I will definitely make it again!
Andi M.
I love all the colors in this recipe and it makes a ton of food! I thought it was a little on the sweeter side for me, so I’d probably half the sweet and sour sauce next time because the pineapple also adds some nice sweetness. Would also like to try this with chicken pieces. I served mine over couscous and it was very good for lunch at work this week. :)
Dawn
A nice change from regular Sweet n Sour from the Chinese place down the road. Our family loves this including my picky husband who normally does not care for Chinese food. I am making it tonight again, and trying it with skinless turkey smoked sausage.

This one is making the next round for my freezer co-op! Yum, it was delicious just as written. Loved all the flavor. Will try the General Tso’s sauce too just for kicks. Yes, when you make it for the freezer, just dump it all in a bag and freeze it flat, even the sauce. That way you do not have to try to remember it later. Write the cooking instructions on the outside of the freezer bag prior to putting food in and you won’t even have to look up the recipe.

Loved this one! We used reduced-fat smoked sausage and didn’t add the hot sauce directly to the crock because of the kiddo. We did add the jalapeno to the crock and it wasn’t too spicy for our 20 month-old…she gobbled it down. This was so tasty and easy to make it will be in our regular rotation!
Sherri
To prep for freezer, do you put all of the ingredients together or just the chunky ingredients and add sweet & sour & Tabasco when you put it in the crock?
Barbara B.
Oh forgot, doubled the recipe!
Barbara B.
Got Mandy’s Big Mess in Crock Pot now! So easy, and smells wonderful! Can’t wait to taste!
Krystal
YUM YUM YUM!!!! This recipe has definately been added to my favorite dinners list! Served it over brown rice and used 2 packages of sausage! So good! :)
Dawn G.
PS Used the Eckrich Smoked Turkey sausage 50% less fat…fabulous flavor and was buy one get one free at our grocery last week!
Dawn G.
SOOOO good and soo easy! Tons of flavor!! A new favorite served over bed of rice and a fruit salad on the side. Only wished I had doubled it…not enough left overs for lunch the next day :)
Mischa
My husband LOVES this! Thank you so much!
nancy
This will definitely be on my rotation list for dinners!! I served it over rice, scrumptious!! If you like a lot of meat, I would use 2 pounds of sausage next time, which I will be doing! Thx girls !!!
Kathy
This was fabulous! I used Iron Chef brand General Tso sauce instead of the sweet and sour and I served it over Jasmine rice. The flavors were amazing!
Crockin Girls
They sure are Beth! Crockin’ made even easier :)

I will be giving this a whirl! So proud of your freezer cooking tout! Freezer cooking and crockin’ are the perfect combo!
Anne
Awesome JOB! Making this tomorrow night… Just need to get the Sweet and Sour!

Love quinoa…didn’t even think about using it for this. Good idea.
Kim G.
Have not tried yet, but looks yummy. Have you tried serving quinoa instead of rice? Very tasy and nutritional, just a thought. My family likes it better than rice, this includes my two picky kids.
Crockin Girls
We haven’t subbed chicken for the sausage, but your sure can! Make it the way y’all will like it. I bet it will be yummy! Just be sure and cook longer, so the chicken gets done. 6-8 hours on low or 4 hours on high depending on how hot your crock cooks.
Was wondering if you had ever used chicken instead of the sausage?? My kiddos do not like sausage so was wondering if you could substitute. Thanks Amy
