Meat Lover’s Spaghetti Sauce

Meat Lover’s Spaghetti Sauce – A delicious recipe for the slow cooker

Hobo Hamburgers

Hobo Hamburgers- great for the whole family, easy for mom and yummy for kids!

Cook Time 8 hrs
Temp Low

This meal always puts me back around my childhood dinner table. Meatloaf, some green beans, mashed potatoes and rolls were pretty much a weekly staple meal. I combine my family's recipe with my mother-in-law’s serving method and put it in the slow cooker. Now get your family around the table and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • For Sauce:
  • 4 Tablespoons mustard
  • 2/3 Cup ketchup
  • 2/3 Cup brown sugar
  • 4 Tablespoons worcestershire
  • 1 (8 oz) Can tomato sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Meat Mixture
  • 1 Pound extra lean ground beef
  • 1/2 to 1 white onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 sleeve crackers (I use the whole grain)
  • 1 egg
  • half of sauce mixture

Directions

  1. Step One

In a large bowl, combine and mix sauce ingredients.

  2. Step Two

In a separate bowl, combine beef, onion, bell pepper, crackers, egg and pour half of sauce into bowl.

  3. Step Three

Place meat mixture in bottom of slow cooker or in mini foil loaf pans and spoon remaining sauce on top.

  4. Step Four

Cook on LOW for 8 hours.

I’m trying this recipe out for our supper tonight. Is there any way to speed up the cooking by cooking it on high for any given amount of time?

I didn’t have minni loaf pans so i just put it in the crock and mine also was looking to wet so i cooked it on low for the first 5hrs and used a baster to suck up all the juice and cooked it on high for the last 3hrs occasionally sucking up juice. It set and turned out not perfect but was great!!!

Oh no, Kristy :( You put them in the mini-loaf pans and everything? Maybe it needed to be cooked longer. Sorry, girl….

It looked and sounded good, I made it as directed and it came out more like a slop than a loaf. :(

Did you put your loafs in the mini-loaf pans, Kim? I did…I show you how in the video. Sorry, girl :/

Mine is in the crockpot right now, and it’s also more of a slop..than a loaf. Not sure what happened. Smells and tastes great, but doesn’t look very appealing.

Tracy…I had the same problem, mine did not set up. It was more of a sloppy joe than a meatloaf. I even used 3/4 c of a sleeve of crackers. I have to say it was delicious, just did not stay in a loaf style. Hopefully Jenna or Nicole will see this and reply to our problem.

What a great idea to use mini foil pans! Am I able to use silicone cupcake cups in the slow cooker?

Smelled good but never “loafed”. Not sure what I did wrong but this came out like sludge. It smelled great and my husband ate it——but it is a disappointment. I will try again one day. Hope everyone else has better skills than I with this!!!
