Made this recipe for a party and it turned out great! Everyone loved them and of course they were all gone! I used Sweet Baby Rays original BBQ sauce (it’s the best one).

I found pineapple “fruit spread” and it looked similar to preserves…does that sound about right?

I found a jar of pineapple & apricot preserves together. I am trying this tonight!

I made this recipe times 3 for a 60th birthday party on Sunday. Everybody loved them, raved and raved about how awesome they were. I used 6 pounds of meatballs (frozen from costco) 80oz of sweet baby rays and 2 jars of pineapple preserves. Filled one larger crockpot. Put them in the crock pot at 9 am and were ready by 1:00.
Thanks it was a hit!

I’ve not tried it but it should work out ok. This would also work well with apricot perserves.
Let us know how it comes out.

Cannot find pineapple preserves…Do you think the pineapple sundae topping would work?

You’re right, Laurie! We like our meatballs swimming in yummy bbq sauce, so we use the 40 oz bottle of Sweet Baby Ray’s.

What size bottle BBQ sauce did you use? It seems like my small 18 oz bottle won’t be enough…thanks..looking forward to trying it!

You should find the preserves on the jelly aisle. You need the thick glaze of the preserves unlike the water in canned pineapple. You can also try apricot preserves but it kinda takes away from the hawaiin flavor.

Can I use a can of crushed pineapple? Not sure where I will find preserves.
