Frito Pie and Wings

There are many reasons to gather together for the big game...friends, family, commercials, half-time show, FOOD! ...and oh yeah- I guess the game too :) We love us some Frito Pie here in Texas and Wings are a game-time must! The wings will fall off the bone (literally) and the Frito Pie makes you feel like you are a true fan sitting in the stands!

Frito Pie
Ingredients:

2 lbs ground turkey seasoned (browned and with salt and pepper)
1 onion
1 green bell pepper
1 packet of chili seasoning mix
2 (8 oz) cans tomato sauce
1 can mexicorn
1 can rotel
1 can diced tomatoes
2 cans kidney beans (drained and rinsed)
oregano, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder
Directions:

Place all ingredients in slow cooker (last four ingredients to taste). Cover and cook on LOW for 6 - 8 hours or on HIGH for 4 hours. Serve over fritos and top with sour cream and shredded cheese for a yummy "frito pie" :)

Wings
Ingredients:

1 to 2 pounds of chicken wings
1/2 Cup Wing sauce (your favorite kind and temp)
1/4 Cup Buffalo Ranch Dressing
1/4 Cup Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce (or your favorite brand)
2 cloves garlic
4 oz (half a block) cream cheese
2 tablespoons brown sugar
Directions:

Place all ingredients except chicken wings into a bowl and mix (just breaking up the cream cheese into a few pieces, it will melt down). Place chicken wings into bottom of slow cooker and pour sauce on top. Cover and cook on HIGH for 4 hours.

Betty, another way to print is to highlight the text and right click. Click on Print... option and when the window pops open, select "print selection" under the page range section. Hope this helps! :)

Carolyn ~ no worries if you leave out the beans. You don't have to replace them with anything else. Just make it the way y'all would like it :)

If you don't like beans, what would you recommend doing to change this recipe to account for leaving the beans out?

Betty ~ we're currently in the process of adding a "print page" option to our recipes. Until that time, you can highlight the text copy/paste in a word document, and print from there. I know this requires several steps, but hopefully, it will be much easier in the near future. Thanks for your patience!

Re: "soft wings"...one of my favorite Crockin' tricks is to cook the wings in the crockpot, then take out and put under the broiler in a foil pan to crisp them up! Works well with ribs, too! Foil pans are the next best thing to crockpots!

Robin Jordin ~ the wings are not crispy in the crock like they are in the oven. But they are fall off the bone crock-alicious! We just gently spoon them out of our crock and then serve in a covered dish to stay warm. YUMM-O!!
