Chinese Pepper Steak – A tasty recipe for the slow cooker


  • 1.5 Pounds Steak
  • 2 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons Water
  • 1 Garlic Cloves, minced
  • 1/4 Cup Soy Sauce, reduced sodium
  • 1 Teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 Ounce Bean Sprouts
  • 1 Cup Diced Tomatoes
  • 2 Green Peppers, cut into strips
  • 1 Tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 1 Large Onion, chopped


  1. Step One

    Cut steak in strips and brown steak in oil.

  2. Step Two

    Mix garlic, soy sauce, and sugar; pour over steak.

  3. Step Three

    Cook 6 hours on low in slow cooker.

  4. Step Four

    Turn to high and add sprouts, tomatoes, green peppers, and onion.

  5. Step Five

    Dissolve cornstarch in water and add for thickening.

  6. Step Six

    Cover and cook an additional hour.

  7. Step Seven

    Serve over hot cooked rice!

    I’ve never added cornstarch. I just want to make sure I understand. I dissolve cornstarch in water and then add to slow cooker? If so, how much water? Thanks!
