I made this last night and me and the husband loved it but my girls thought it was a little to sweet. Has anyone ever made this without the brown sugar or maybe with less brown sugar?

I thought the chicken itself was delish! Fell right off the bone! Just want to make the kiddos happy next time I make it :)

I actually tried the recipe with frozen, boneless and skinless chicken breasts. Doubled the ingredients for the sauce and cooked on high for the 6-7 hours. The meat literally falls apart and absorbed the sauce. Very tasty! We have used this for tacos and even a pulled chicken sandwich. My son loves it and that says something! Thank you!!

Great recipe if your craving that sweet and tangy taste! I tweaked it a tiny bit and added 3 hefty size chicken breast (bone in) instead of the chicken legs and doubled my ingredients. (I love extra sauce). I also added 1/2 teaspoon of red chili pepper to give it a little heat. Once the meat was fully cooked, I let it cool down some then deboned the chicken, broke up the chicken breast some and placed it back into the sauce so it can absorb some of that delicious flavor. Tastes Great!!!

Thanks for the life-saving recipe! I had a ton (OK, 4 pounds) of drumsticks I bought on sale and couldn’t figure out what to do with them. Threw them in the slow cooker with this easy sauce and voila! A family pleaser was cooked while we were at work and school, and on a budget. I was out of ketchup (whaaa?) so I subbed tomato paste and some additional brown sugar. Turned out wonderful, and my kids even ate seconds. Nice work!

This was excellent! My family (very picky kids) enjoyed it! We used drum sticks, and served it with scalloped potatoes. Would it work to make a larger portion and to layer the chicken then put the mixture over it, add more chicken and then the mixture? The 2 pounds wasn’t quite enough for my fam of 4. Would you just double the recipe? I do have a very large crockpot.

    Thanks girls!!!

Great recipe – I used chicken breasts – My chicken got a little dry but my slow cooker cooks hot. I usually shorten the cook time by an hour or two. I put this together in the morning, put it in the refrigerator until I came home for lunch (1:30 p.m.) and set my crock on low (8 hrs). I was home by 5:30 so I’d say it cooked 4 hrs.
I will try it again on a Saturday so I can watch it and figure the correct cook time for my crock.

I made this for the first time last week and my family loved it! (It’s in the crock again for tonight!) I used chicken thighs and I browned them before adding them to the crock because my hubs likes a crispier skin on chicken thighs….so it wasn’t really “chicken in a hurry” prep wise for me, but the end result was wonderful! My entire family devoured it which includes a 1 and 4 year old. Thanks for another great recipe! :)

Could we use chicken tenders or breast, also could we throw the chicken in their frozen. or would you not recommend that. I am struggling to find easy good recipes that my husband and I both agree on.. last two I have tried were a fail. He doesn’t like creamy. :(

If you are using boneless chicken breast, you will need to cut down your cooking time. This is why it was a little dry. You may have to play with it a bit but it will not take as long to cook if it is a boneless/skinless piece of chicken.

To my surprise, they were delicious. I can’t wait to try this recipe with thighs or breasts. Considering how inexpensive chicken drumsticks are on sale, this is a very thrifty recipe.

I will spend the summer going hiking, camping, going to Cape Cod to the beach, lounging by the pool and of course making great crock pot recipes. I use my crockpot several times a week, and I don’t have to stand near the stove. Our favorite recipe is Buffalo Chicken.

  91. Marie

    I’m last minute also!
I plan on spending the rest of the summer relaxing. I will be spending time by the pool and going out with friends. Just a basic fun time around home.

Nothing like a last minute post! I have exactly 5 weeks of summer left and I plan to spend every moment possible making memories with my husband and our 11 week old daughter! As a first time mom and school teacher I plan to make the absolute most of our last bit of time together so that we can cherish these memories for a lifetime!

Spending the rest of the summer trying to fit everything I can in with my family! My oldest starts school in about 6 weeks so trying to make it a good summer! Between me working, my school work, chores, etc. there’s not a ton of spare time, so my crockpot has been a HUGE timesaver! Thanks in large part to you ladies!! :)

I’ll be spending my summer trying out recipes on my new crock pot. I cooked the chicken tortilla soup the other night it was wonderful. I cant wait to try the easy chicken recipe with my grandkids I know they will love it. While buying my crock pot at the store I had a lady tell me about Crockin’ girls webite I’m so glad she did. Hope everyone has a CROCKIN’ SUMMER :) :) :)

My aunt used to make the pistachio salad and bring it to family potlucks and I never knew how to make it, thank you for reminding me about a family gathering favorite. I work full time but will be taking a vacation for 2 weeks in August to visit family and friends in Idaho and I will be making this while I’m there. We also have several family and friends potlucks and company potluck picnics planned for the rest of the summer and I now have these recipes that I can cook (especially the chicken) while I work full time and I won’t have to be the one who brings the chips. I have been using my cell phone to take pictures and would love to win the camera as I would like good quality photos for digital scrapbooking. Thank you for your site, I signed up for your newsletter today as I just got a crockpot and wanted to see what was facebook for recipes.

Ahhh, this looks good….crockin is perfect for summer cooking! With the rest of my summer I plan to try some new recipes (this one’s on the list), do a little decluttering in my house, go camping, and spend a lot of time with our new firstborn grandchild….taking lots of pics of her of course!

I plan on using the rest of my summer to vacation with my 11 month old before she turns one. We have also been trying at least 1 new recipe a week. When we find one we like I put it in a binder. Now in the future we have a go to cook book when we are trying to answer that annoying question ” what s for dinner” we have a place to look. Tonight we are trying this “chicken in a hurry”

I plan on using the rest of my summer with my little man! :) My husband and I are moving to a new house with our 17 month old son and me being 8 months pregnant! I am taking off from work in 1 week and taking off from school in the fall so I can stay at home with my son and our new little girl due in August. This will be the last time I can be with them 24/7 before I start nursing school in the spring. We plan on continuing the summer into the fall, enjoying our new house and new addition! Looks like crockin’ will be happening a lot in our house this fall! :)

The summer has been so busy with kids camps, swim team, etc that we have hardly been to the lake at all! I intend to spend every possible minute at the family cabin near the lake from now until school starts back up! Of course I will turn on my slow cooker before I head for the water, and hopefully, take along a new camera! Thanks for all you do!

I am squeezing every last moment free from work to spend time with my kids. With my son 22 and daughter 17 this may be the last summer I have them both at home. We take day trips, pack picnics for dinner in the park, and play a card game at home after dinner when thats all we have time for that day. The tv is hardly ever on any more, we talk and laugh, we are so lucky to be able to spend this time together.

I hope to have a very uneventful, easy, rest of the summer. Since May 19, 2010, my husband has really had a rough time with fighting his cancer. He’s had one procedure and one major surgery. Two stays in the hospital. We have 3 young daughters and from here on out, I hope he can stay out of the hospital long enough to just enjoy the summer. I also hope to get back into cooking, not really been in the mood lately. Happy Summer to you all.

Thanks CROCKIN GIRLS for blessing our family!!!

The rest of this summer I have a few things planned! :)
    1. Deliver my twins on July 25!
    2. Bring my babies home!
    3. Spend quality time with my son (20 months old) who has been missing out on quality mommy time due to bed rest.
    4. Thank every single person that has been helping us these past few weeks so that we may be able to deliver healthy babies.
    5. Get out into the sun for a few minutes at least because I will finally be able to take the heat!!

That should be a nice little summary of the remainder of my summer!

We plan to spend the rest of the summer with friends and family. My husband’s baseball season just ended as well as the July 4th festivities. We’ve had this Asian salad at two picnics this summer already. Most importantly – we’re really hoping to start our own family this summer as we’re trying to conceive. Thanks for all these easy recipes!! You gals ROCK!

We are finishing baseball and starting football for the rest of the summer but we are taking a fishing trip to Minnesota for a week and I am taking my crockpot (or two) and hitting your website for recipes. I’m not standing in the kitchen cooking when I could be enjoying the outdoors! I’ll let my crockpot cook for me!

The rest of my family’s summer includes a trip to Charleston, SC with my parents, my sister and her family. Will my crockpot be joining the trip? Absolutely! I am in charge of 2 nights of family meals to feed 12 people, and “Chicken in a hurry” is already on my menu! Thanks for all you do to help keep my crockpot cookin’ tasty meals to feed my family!

Since my family isn’t crazy about drumsticks we will try this with chicken breasts – maybe even shred and put on buns once it is done! Looking forward to spending time at the beach and trying to get my scrapping’ stuff organized before school starts. Is that really only 6 weeks away???

  184. This looks great. Will be trying this one real soon. We will soon be heading to Kentucky to have some fun with our two grandsons (and their Mama and Daddy) too. Will be saying goodby to our son-in-law for the next 9 months as he is being deployed to Afghanistan.

I have all the ingredients and plan on making this very soon! We are planningon spending a week in Colorado and enjoy the cooler temps. May even take my crockpot along, so that dinner can be ready after long days of hiking, biking and rafting.

I made this recipe about a week ago, and it was great! I plan on spending my summer relaxing and spending time with my family. Last summer went by in a blur. My sis in law died (of cancer) 16 hrs before my Mom died (unexpectedly). Two months later, my grandson spent a month in the hospital. Two months later, my husband had pneumonia for one month! Another episode this March had my grandson stop breathing, but thank God he is alive and doing well. So, I really shouldn’t say I will be spending time with my family just this summer…. it is an every day thing a person needs to make time to do… family is everything, and by God’s Grace, I am blessed beyond measure with a loving one. I have my own scrapbooking room, so a camera is always a good thing…..BUT memories in my heart are irreplaceable. Thanks for the great recipes and good luck to whomever wins the camera…. capture those moments with your loved ones while you can.

I am a SAHM of 3 boys ages 9, 8, and 4 and married to my high school sweetheart (14 years July 17th). Our summer is full of numerous sports camps, church camps, VBS and swimming in our pool and at the lake. I have put your fabulous cookbook to use numerous times already this summer and the boys have loved every recipe I have cooked so far :) We are big Detroit Tigers fans so we often watch the games on T.V. and have managed to get to one game so far this summer. I will be working hard to prepare my fitness routine for my fitness class, while my husband works hard designing and selling the 2013 model pontoon boats for Apex Marine! Our family loves being outdoors so we spend a lot of time outside playing games, taking walks at our property, fishing or just enjoying the sunshine. We are going to try and savor the rest of the summer as best we can because before we know it it is going to be over……and then the craziness really begins :):):)

Next month I am having my first child, a boy, we’re going to call him Benjamin. So far this summer it’s been quiet, we’ve just been spending time with our family and preparing for the little one. We’ve been living the quiet life because we know in about three weeks life isn’t going to be so quiet anymore! The camera would be awesome for us. Aside from our cell phones, we don’t have a good camera to capture the moments we’re about to have!

Oooops left it in the wrong place to begin with. With the rest of the summer I am traveling to Okinawa, Japan with my sister and my mother. My mother was born and raised in Okinawa and it will be her first time back in 38 years. First time me and my sister will head overseas. We plan to do two weeks of sightseeing and hoping meeting family members for the first time. It should be a fantastic way to end this summer.

Love, love, love the pistachio salad! That’s a traditional “go to” for my family too! Our summer is slipping away from us, but we have a few more thing to fit in. We plan to see a Braves game, swim with friends and enjoy some BBQ’s with friends!

I plan to spend the rest of the summer keeping my grandchildren, putting food in the Crockpot every morning for dinner, swimming in our pool, checking on my 81 year old mom, visiting with family, cooking out, using every veggie in season, canning, camping, cleaning, visiting with friends, facebooking, and Pinteresting, reading with grandchildren, and teaching God’s word, and praying for healing and safely for all. I would also like to add flopping into the bed, exhausted every night.

I just LOVE all your recipes!!
I enjoy using my crock pot more and more everyday!
And this chicken recipe is amazing!!

This summer…I can not believe in about a month my kids will be going back to school!!
Seems so long but it’s not and last few weeks of summer is bitter sweet for me, I don’t know why it’s just makes me sad that they are going back…
It’s sure hard to keep them busy and entertain with Arizona heat but it’s FUN to have them in the house and do things together.
it’s almost over but we still have fun plans!!

We will go to California and spend time with my husband’s family there and enjoy outside a LOT!! Because here…being Arizona it’s impossible to go outside and play unless it’s pool, so I would like to take them for a walk by beach there and parks!!
Then the last couple of weeks of summer, my parents are coming to visit us from over seas!!
They are not sure if they want to come during summer because with the heat but they want to see grand children so forget about the heat they will fly here!!
I am really excited to see them!!
I have not seen my mom since my little one was born which was over 3 years ago…and my dad…I have not seen him in 5 years!!!!
My dad will finally meet my 3 year old as first time!!!
My parents are really excited!! But we are planning to surprise my kids!
So I am not going to tell them til that day!
My plan is….they will be here 2pm so we will eat lunch and tell them that we have to go shopping but we will be heading to the airport and then, surprise!!
Grandma and Grandpa from Japan is coming!!!
    I can not wait!!!

    Have a GREAT summer!!

We are so excited to spend the next few weeks going here and there and taking lots of day trips to enjoy the rest of our time that we are lucky enough to be stationed in germany. We are so excited to wake up every morning with smiles knowing that fun awaits us. This summer is by far the best one yet and it just started. :)

I don’t have much summer left because I’m a school teacher and will be returning to work on August 6. However, until then, I have a baby girl who will be turning 1 year old and I’ll be spending my time celebrating her birthday and cherishing every moment with her. Thanks to the use of generators I will be able to pre cook some meals and just reheat them just like at home.

I just printed off this past Monday’s meal and I can’t wait to try it on them when they get back from the beach this weekend. I am planning on spending the rest of my summer (what hours I have away from work) spoiling them rotten and enjoying hearing their laughter – it sure does warm my heart. Our summer fun continues with an all girls shopping trip and motel stay! Also need to complete our daughters school list for her kindergarten year! Exciting stuff!! This is one of our favorite recipes! My husband remembers his mother making something similar when he was a young boy. She passed away when he was only 16 so this is a way to honor her memory!

My plans for the rest of the summer are to make it go by as slowly as possible. Since I teach school summer is my absolute favorite time of the year, but it always seems to fly by! Not having to spend as much time making dinner will give me more time to enjoy the pool with my kids :)

All girls in this family of mine, so I’m going to spend the rest of this summer making memories outdoors and teaching my “all girl” family how to have fun with a good ole crockpot and some creative cooking that they will be sure to love. Then it will be time for school to begin, I can send all the girls home to do some crockin’ for their mommy and drive her crazy! ~ thanks for all the great recipes

I will be spending my summer adjusting to life without my best friend, husband and hero. I sadly lost him on his 2nd tour of duty and his death has made me prideful that he was doing what he believed it, and that was defending our country – but also so very sad as I miss him more each moment and most of all, that he will not be here to see the birth of our precious baby. My summer will be spent preparing for her arrival and capturing every moment I can, on camera.

I plan on spending the rest of my summer on a couple of mini vacations! (I have been teaching summer school and my ‘summer’ is just now starting!) We are going to Port Aransas to spend some time on the beach- probably using the crock pot to cook while we play— :) and then we are going to Schlitterbahn and floating the river in New Braunfels…. I love the recipe for chicken in a hurry, and the ramen noodle salad always seems to show up at our family gatherings as well! Enjoy the rest of your summer!

This sounds like a great recipe! My summer has been that I retired, went to a wedding in Colorado and my plans in August are to attend our annual family reunion, which is over 150 people. I have 8 brothers and 2 sisters and we are all married and have grandchildren and great grandchildren. To top that off, our oldest granddaughter is getting married in August. I am thinking this has been a great summer! The camera would be nice to have for all the pictures that I need to take next month. Crockin’ Girls are great….

This sounds delish! Spending most of my summer days packing and cleaning! Sold our house at our yard sale, who knew?, so the crockpot is my friend! The new house is 30 miles away and when I spend the day there I DO NOT want to come home and cook! Thanks for all the great recipes!

Great video! I have to try that chicken and the ramen salad is for sure one of my fav’s!! Cant believe half the summer is over already. Its time for Football season to start and i am an official (new) cheer mom! So its going to the games and cheering my heart out with my 2nd grader cheerleader. Squeezing in more museums and bbq’s with friends. Gotta get the most out of our time together while the kids are off school and the weather is nice!

I can’t wait to try that drumsticks recipe, on my menu this weekend! Rest of my summer? My kids are on year round school so it’s not a typical summer here in Raleigh, NC! I plan to figure out ways to keep them cool after school on days when it’s impossible to be outside and enjoy it. Lots of museums, indoor playgrounds and popsicles!!!!

My summers are spent working in the garden, doing lots of canning and preparing for the winter months ahead. There is nothing better than going to your stash of summer produce to prepare a meal in the winter and months ahead. We do not have air conditioning in our house and I use the crock pot a LOT during the hot summer months. I am not sure what I would do without it.

Spending the remainder of the summer at cheer practices for both my girls. So crockpot dinners are the best!!!! <3

What a great idea love it fast and easy!

figure show and than get ready for school! So if I win this it would
    come in handy!

Oh yum!! I need to buy a bigger crock pot. I have a little guy, that I’ve made due with, but I want to start trying some more recipes that require more room.. like this one!

I plan on spending the rest of my summer playing with my kiddos! Poor things have been stuck inside much of the summer since we moved. They deserve to get out and play! Starting… Now!

My summer plans are spending the next couple of weeks enjoying the quiet of a child free house as he is out of state with my parents. And spending time with friends in the pool. BTW, loving y’all’s southern accents… :D Chicken sounds good, but we like spicy so we might have to make some adjustments.
