Chicken Dressing – easy and homemade!

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Chopped onion
  • 1 Cup Chopped celery
  • 1/4 Cup Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Sage
  • 1 Teaspoon Poultry seasoning
  • 2 Cups White bread (day old)
  • 8 Cups Cornbread
  • 2 Cans Cream of chicken soup
  • 2 Cans Chicken broth (from 3 breasts)
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 Tablespoon Vinegar
  • 3 Chicken breasts

Directions

  1. Step One

    Stew chicken breasts until done; cook the onion and celery until tender in the oil.

  2. Step Two

    Add salt, sage, and poultry seasonings; combine the breads in a large mixing bowl.

  3. Step Three

    Stir in the cooked onion, celery, salt, sage and poultry seasonings.

  4. Step Four

    In a small bowl combine the soup, broth, eggs, and vinegar.

  5. Step Five

    Combine with other ingredients in a large bowl, mix well.

  6. Step Six

    Pour into slow cooker and cook on high for 30 minutes.

  7. Step Seven

    Turn heat down to low and cook 3-4 hours.

  8. Step Eight

    About 1 hour before it's done, add the broken pieces of chicken.

  9. Step Nine

    I believe you will find this to be the easiest and the most complimented dressing you have.

    Hey Roxanne! As far as using bread crumbs rather than bread, I have no clue. If this is something that you have done with an oven recipe in the past, then I’m sure you can do it. The cornbread is pre-made and crumbled into 8 cups. Sorry the directions aren’t clear. Let us know how it comes out!

    Hi I am interested in making this….. but im alittle confused as to the ingredients… can I use the can of bread crumbs in place real slices of bread also the cornbread is this premade or cornmeal? even better can you make a video of this… please
