Becky, make sure you double everything.

Can you do 40 oz of apples and a whole box of yellow cake?
Lisa
this is AMAZING!!!! I made this for guests last night and everyone raved about it. It could not have been any easier to throw together a dessert that was unbelievably good. I am having a hard time containing myself from eating all the leftovers today! I will definitely make this again and again and can’t wait to try it with other fruits.

It is very similar. I think there are lots of variations of it out there. You can make you version of it Kathy or the recipe amounts for this one are listed above.

Is this the same as Minister’s Delight? I am not sure how much pie filling or cake mix to use.

I’m making this for dessert tonight along with a slow cooker chicken parmesan :) Thank goodness my mom found her other slow cooker!

Cindy, it really just depends on the size of your crock. If your dessert is too thick then the outside will cook before the center does. You may wanna check it at the two hour mark….
Cindy
Well made it with apples and was DELISH!!
Cindy
I used a can and half apple.pie filling and used whole cake.mix. Would it take longer to cook??

This was SO yummy! My husband went crazy for it!

I love this! I put it together on a Sunday afternoon. It took me 5 minutes to prepare. I took my Sunday afternoon nap and woke up and my dessert was ready! Love Love Love this recipe. So easy.

It could also be that your crock cooks a little hot, Dawn. Sorry :/ Our nonstick GE is the “go to” for desserts!
Dawn
So I made it one more time using the suggestions…. 6 quart crock, on high for 2 hours.
It turned out pretty good, the edges were burnt (cake & cherries) and didn’t taste the best and the center “looked” like it wasn’t cooked but seemed to be and tasted fine. So I guess that may be the way to go with this recipe.
Use a 6 quart crock and cook on high for 2 hours. :)

I have made several variations on this all good. Use chocolate cake with the cherries, my favorite. Another is apple pie filling with caramel ice cream topper and yellow cake mix, very rich. Still another is canned pineapple with cherries and yellow cake mix. I do mine on high for almost three hours, I like it a little crusty. Vanilla ice cream is a must with all of these of course!
Crockin Girls
We used a 6 qt as well. You might try cooking on high for 2 hours.
Crockin Girls
We used a 6 qt cooker and yes the times are correct.

I used a 5 quart round and on low for 4 hours and mine too came out “gummy or gooey” not baked like in the pictures :( Here is some photos of it.

Not sure what I did wrong but didn’t turn out.
Kathie
I must have done something wrong because the cake didn’t cook the whole way through – it was gummy. I did it in a 6 quart oval crockpot. Did I need to make it in a smaller crockpot? Please help because this looked so good and even though we ate it all, it wouldn’t have been up to feeding company!!!!!
Dawn
What size crock are you using? And is the cooking times correct? Just want to make sure before I do this :) Thanks!
Kim
So easy and good. This was the perfect Valentine’s Day dessert. I also was inspired by your craft idea at the end of this video. I made a craft beer gift basket for my husband (paired his favorite with dark chocolates and blue cheese plus a specialty beer magazine) and one for my son (his favorite soda and candy bars with tissue stuffing right in the cardboard soda case). They loved it all!

I think using a different fruit like apple would be fine.
Natalee M.
My husband doesn’t like cherry, do you think this would work with apple pie filling?
Deborah
Ok, this whole episode is TOTALLY the Valentine’s Dinner solution for me! FYI: I LOVE THE CRAFT IDEA AT THE END!!!!!!!!! Very simple & easy to assemble & best of all not too time consuming! You gals are fantabulous! Again, my crock is my go-to for good food (I keep mine on the counter!) and your easy-to-do craft is a bonus. SCORE! Blessings to you both!
