This is a sweet chili. My awesome sister in-law gave me this recipe from her church cookbook. You can eat as a dip with fritos scoops or as chili with bread or crackers


  • 1 Pound Ground beef
  • 1 Onion
  • 2 Cans Stewed tomatoes
  • 1 Can Brooks's chili beans (we use mild)
  • 3 Tablespoons BBQ sauce (sweet baby rays honeybbq or famous Dave's sweet n zesty)
  • 1/2 Garlic salt (a shake)
  • 1/2 Cup Mild banana peppers, chopped with juice
  • Paprika (a shake)


  1. Step One

    Brown ground beef with chopped onion. Drain and add to the crockpot.

  2. Step Two

    Add stewed tomatoes and chili beans (if you don't like chunks purée both tomatoes and beans in the blender before adding to the crockpot). Also a good way to hide the beans from my kids. :).

  3. Step Three

    Add remaining ingredients and stir

  4. Step Four

    Cook in crockpot on low for 4 hours. Serve with shredded cheese and eat with scoops

    This was a really interesting tasting chili…almost like sweet and sour chili. The BBQ sauce made it sweet and the banana peppers and juice made it sour. Serving with cheese kind of tones the flavors down, so I recommend that. And Carly was right; this dish does great as a dip or just eating it as chili.
