I haven’t made this yet, but it sounds amazing! I am going to make it for my family of 7 so will probably double it. Can I cook on high for less hours or should I stick with the 8 hrs on low? If I do double it, does the crock time have to increase a lot?? Thanks!!

I am going to make this recipe x10 for a freezer meal group I belong to. To clarify is it one bag of egg noodles? Can you add the noodles one hour before you eat? Any other tips for the ‘freezer’ process? Thanks! :)

Sorry to hear that. You might try bumping up the seasoning to your taste. When you add the milk and flour paste, leave the lid off so it will thicken better.

I made this and it came out super bland and like water, even after adding the milk flour mixture and letting it sit. What did I do wrong?

I love the freezer meals. This one was delicious. Just drop and crock before work and a awesome dinner when you return. Just one thing I would like to share with my favorite crockin girls. Before you put your meals into your freezer bags roll the top zipper part of the bag down two times. Less mess and easier to zip.

I haven’t tried this ‘yet’ but definitely want to! :) Hubby loves Stroganoff. Just a lil ‘tidbit’ to those afraid of making the ‘paste’. Put just a ‘little’ bit of the flour in at a time, and do it slowly. Use a wire ‘whisk’. You should be just fine, and no lumps. I’m not advocating ‘changing’ this recipe in any way, but I remember the first time I made ‘cream peas and potatoes’. My mother-in-law, a certified ‘old fashioned’ from scratch cook, told me to use ‘corn starch’ in place of the flour. Not saying it would work with this, but I did try this, and it DID work. NO LUMPS! :) My first time cream peas and potatoes came out delicious. Directions are or used to be, right on the box of corn starch :)

To make a paste, use about 1/2 cup of milk and about 1/4 cup of flour. Mix it up really well before adding to the slow cooker.

Sorry I am not use to making a paste, can You give me a idea in how much milk and flour please. Thank You!

Kimberly, I just have to say that it really is not fair to put a low rating on a recipe when you altered it in a couple of ways and then didn’t like it because of your changes. French Onion Soup will seriously change the taste and make the meal much more salty, among other things. The mushy noodles were a mistake on your part and you should not have rated the recipe until you made it exactly as it.

Julie 10 oz of broth will be just great!

I wouldn’t try it, Denise. Your noodles will most likely just turn to mush. We like to make a big ol’ pot of pasta at the beginning of the week and then use it in different dishes all week long. If you do want to try it, do it maybe the last 30 minutes of cooking when the sauce is boiling. and I would only poour in half the bag of egg noodles.

    >>>>But no promises it will work out :/ I haven’t tried it<<<< Good LUCK!!

Thanks Richard! We have mentioned that pasta several times!! It’s great…we can’t taste a difference at all!

Glad you liked it so much, Molly and the rest of the gang!!:) We do too, y’alll!

Sorry Kimberly…ya you just pour the beefy gravy mixture on top of your already cooked noodles or mix them in at the end. I bet it was a mushy mess :(
Here’s to better crockin’ luck on your next dish :)

Question: I buy my beef and chicken broth in the cartons — how many ounces should I use?

  15. denise

This looks great! I was wondering if there’s a way to put uncooked noodles in with the rest of the recipe so I don’t have to dirty up a pot cooking the noodles separetly? Heehee, I’m lazy like that! Also, my dishwasher bit the dust.
If so, at what point do I put them in and would I have to increase the moisture content?
Thanks! And I really enjoy looking at and trying your recipes. :)

Haven’t tried yet but it’d be a blessing to you members to tell your dieters and diabetics that using “Dreamfield Pasta” in pasta recipes yields only 5 actual usable carbs per serving versus 40 on more per serving of all other brands . As a diabetic I used to skip pasta dishes automatically but tried it and tested my glucose readings before eating and after and there only a normal number. Before this pasta, my glucose went sky high.
evenn when I used their Lasagna shells. Do your members a favor and recommend this product, taste just like all other brands but healthier and less carbs (equals less fat)!

I didn’t like this recipe at all; we had it Monday, January 7th. I left my stew meat mixture cook all day (7:30 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.) and it didn’t have much flavor so I added a can of french onion soup.
I thought that I was to put the noodles into the crock-pot and then they turned to mush. :( They were only in the crock 35 – 40 minutes)
My husband absolutely loved it, my son and I didn’t. I will probably try it again though because this is the first recipe that I have had that didn’t turn out and I’ve used a lot of them, so I think I must have just done something wrong – besides putting my noodles into the crock.
Thank you girls for sharing your talents! You are truly a blessing!

Tasted delicious! This is one of my all-time favorite dishes, so I was interested to see how it turned out. I had to add a little bit of salt upon serving. I also had a hard time getting the sauce to thicken up in the end, needing to add a few tablespoons of the flour paste.
Perfect for a chilly winter day, and some to save for later too! Thanks!
