Pumpkin Crumb Cake

This is great as a dessert with vanilla ice-cream or even with your coffee in the morning!

Cook Time 3 hrs
Temp High

An all-american dessert, these apple dumplings are fun for the whole family to make!

Ingredients

  • 2 Packages crescent rolls
  • 2-3 apples, peeled and diced (I used whatever apples I had on hand)
  • 2/3 Cups sugar
  • 1/3 Cup brown sugar
  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • 1/2 Cup orange juice (I use Sunny D)
  • cinnamon sugar for topping

Directions

  1. Step One

Spray slow cooker with non stick cooking spray. Roll out crescent rolls into individual triangles.

  2. Step Two

Place a heaping amount of apples on the crescent roll and roll up, place in the slow cooker. Repeat until all crescent rolls are used.

  3. Step Three

In a small saucepan combine both sugars, butter and orange juice. Stir until melted and sugar is dissolved. Pour over the crescent rolls. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top of dumplings.

  4. Step Four

Cover and cook on HIGH for 3 hours.

I had to finally confess that i couldn’t take all of the credit! :) We didn’t have the ice cream, so of course I have to make it again so we can eat it with some ice cream! :) HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ONE….SOOO GOOD!!!

This recipe was such a big hit with my family, I made it for the middle school teachers when we did an MSA meal for them last week. But I cheated the second time, not having as much time to prepare. I used ready made pie crusts and was told it was excellent. I rolled out each crust, put a good amount of apples in each one, rolled them back up and cut into slices and put in the crock pot. I love this page, love the recipes!!

Leigh, if your crock cooks even a little hot, “baking” can be pretty tricky. I’d put money on your slow cooker being a Rival or Hamilton Beach…the two hottest crocks around! I would reduce the temperature to LOW when your recipes call for HIGH. Still watch it, though…your time may need to be reduced, too! If you reduce only the time then the center may not get done.

Made these for Thanksgiving and I smelled them burning after only 2 hrs. I could only salvage the ones from the middle, which were soft and tender. I’m wondering if an hour or hour and a half cook time would be more appropriate for these?
