A light and easy alfredo sauce that you can pour over fettucini noodles, easily add chicken (just increase your crockin' time), or use as a yummy dip!

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup nonfat milk
  • 8 Ounces Neufchatel cheese, cubed
  • 1/4 Teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 Teaspoon onion salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 Cup grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

  1. Step One

Combine milk, cubed Neufchatel cheese, garlic powder, onion salt, and minced garlic. Stir until smooth.

  2. Step Two

Stir in grated Parmesan cheese and crock until everything is blended, melted, and heated through. That may be only an hour for some crocks!

  3. Step Three

If you want to add chicken to your sauce you can use canned chicken, or add uncooked chicken tenders (my preference) and crock on LOW for about 4-5 hours.

I doubled the sauce recipe and added a pound of chicken. It was perfectly done at about four hours so shredded the chicken and I added a package of fettuccine noodles and let it cook for about another hour. My sister and I loved it. My boyfriend hated it. Can’t please everybody! =)

Hey, Sarah…I submitted this recipe. You should use onion SALT, and no butter is needed for this. It was a stove top recipe that I converted to slow cooker. I will contact the CG and let them know this needs to be fixed. Thanks!

I am just reading this recipe and I have noticed that listed in the ingredients and the directions in step 1 don’t match. Step 1 says to “Combine milk, cubed Neufchatel cheese, butter or margarine, garlic powder, onion powder, minced garlic, and salt.” The ingredients does not have butter or margarine listed and in the ingredients, it says to use “onion salt” but directions say onion powder and salt. I’m lost. Hope somebody can quickly clarify how to make this, because I want to make it soon. Thank you

I finally made this…It turned out tasty! I did add frozen chicken and cooked it on low for 8 hours. Next time I will double the sauce part of the recipe because the chicken soaked up a lot of the extra sauce.

I would add about a 1lb of chicken, either tenders or breasts. Cook on low for about 6-7 hours or high for about 4-5, depending on how hot your slow cooker cooks. I like to cut my chicken with kitchen shears before putting it in the crock then I don’t have to cut it up before serving….I can just scoop it out. :) I usually cook a package of fettuccine noodles and let everyone add the sauce to their own bowl. If you do add noodles to your sauce, just eyeball it. Don’t add too much, though, because your noodles will soak up some of your sauce.

If I add the chicken tenders, how much should I add? Also, how much pasta should I prepare to go with this sauce?

    Absolutely, Hannah!

Sounds yummy! Do you think you could freeze this sauce in separate containers and thaw as needed?
