Keeping moisture off of cake top.

When I “crock” a cake in my crock-pot, I place a large paper towel over the top then the lid. That way the towel absorbs just about all the steam and it does not drip down into the cake.
I made Nicole’s (wonderful, delicious, tasty, as good as mom’s, etc.) pineapple upside down cake (really I made 2) and used the paper towel on it. I have also done this with all my cakes, brownies, and anything I did not want moisture to drip on it.
