Getting in Shape

Hey y’all! I had a lot of questions earlier this week about what I am doing to get in shape, so here it goes! I am not a hardcore dieter or workout fanatic, but I like to go at a steady pace and still enjoy myself with food and fun!

When Crockin’ Girls first started up my baby girl was just over three months old. Between carrying around some of my baby weight and the craziness of the Crockin’ whirlwind we were in, I couldn’t even think about taking time for myself to get back in shape! This past September when Stella was about 16 months old, I was finally ready to get back into my groove! Here are some of the changes I have made:

Crockin’ Christmas Desserts

H is for Hectic and Holiday! How can Christmas be a week away?! If you want to avoid the mall and long lines this week, but you’re still in need of a few last minute gifts, use your slow cooker silly! These desserts require easy-prep and make a ton in a short amount of time. Now that’s what we’re talkin’ about! Just wrap them up in festive bags or tins and your list is done!

Chocolate Covered Marshmallows with Peppermint Sticks

Chocolate Drizzled Rice Krispie Treats

Sweet Berry Farm Family Fun

¬†On Saturday we headed out to Sweet Berry Farms in Marble Falls, TX. It is a family farm with many activities for all. We had such a wonderful day. We invited our good friends the Gerstenberger’s. Gage and Jayden have been besties since about 20 months old. They met at a home daycare that I took Gage to on the days I taught dance lessons. Now they are both in school, and going to different schools so their time together is limited, but we make it a point to get together or have Jayden over to spend the night at least once a month.
Anyway, back to the farm … I haven’t had such a peaceful day in a long time as I had last Saturday. We laughed and laughed. The best part of it all is that my kids were happy and we weren’t in a rush to get anywhere. On these leisurely days, we are reminded how hectic our lives can be and it was a much needed day of rejuvenating.

5k Runnin’ Season

Since the first Saturday in September I have run a 5K every Weekend, and I am signed up to do another this week (September 22). I have always love to run… starting in Jr. High, my love for Cross Country began and I ran competitively into High School. After you are no longer in “school sports” you have to find other ways to exercise and challenge yourself so I have always liked doing 5Ks. Stanton (my husband) was also a runner and so this is something we like to do together- although I can’t keep up with him, lol!

After I had Spencer I started training when he was about 8 months old to run a 1/2 marathon. I have always only ran the 5Ks which are 3.1 miles, and I had finished one 10K (just over 6 miles) but when he was almost 11 months old (May 2010) I ran my first 1/2 Marathon (13.1 miles). I would LOVE to be able to train for another one, but with 2 kiddos and now having a crazy schedule to top things off, it is something that I have on the back burner. It takes a lot of time and dedication to train for one but it is definitely on my bucket list!
