Thankful Giveaway!

By

With Thanksgiving approaching, we have been reflecting a lot on this past year and all that we have to be thankful for.  One of our biggest blessings is our wonderful Crockin’ Community! To give thanks, we are having another giveaway!  FIVE winners will be chosen at random on Wednesday, at 5:00 pm (CST) and each will receive a free copy of our Crockin’ for the Holidays Magazine, sponsored by BELLA, the makers of the adorable orange slow cooker we are using this week in our Crockin’ Monday video!

Thank y’all so much for sharing your heart warming stories, we truly enjoyed reading each every one of them! We chose five winners at random and they are…

Deborah G.
“Thankful for the opportunity to be home with my son. My job was outsourced as of June 1st. With the severance I have been able to stay home with my son. I work with him everyday to over come his severe speech delay. I’m do proud of how far he’s come in the past 5 months. He was my miracle baby and would do anything for him.”

Shari
“Am most thankful for my mother, husband and mother-in-law. For the past 3 years they have helped me achieve one of my biggest dreams. I was able to obtain my Master’s degree in nursing and show other females of my family that obtaining, not only a college degree but a Master’s, is possible. I have 2 small children and it was no small fete for them to help. I appreciate them so very much and am not sure there is a big enough way to express to them how truly thankful I am of them!”

Cindy E.
“Most thankful for life! After two bouts with cancer, there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t thank God for life and for the ability to live, and move, and have my being! Thankful for my wonderful husband and awesome son who walked through those times with me, and who help me out with parts of the housework and other things I cannot do.”

Katie
“I am currently on bedrest for my pregnancy. A pregnancy that was 4 years in the making. So this year I am 1. Thankful for the chance to be pregnant, and bring a life into this world. 2. Thankful for my loving husband who is taking such great care of me. and last but not least 3. My crockpot. My husband is able to make meals for us in the crockpot while he is away at work.”

Joyce A.
“I am so thankful for my family. My children and husband mean the world to me. I appreciate the bond I have with my children. They are growing up so fast at 11 and 13 that I realize time is so precious I need to savor every minute of it.”

I am thankful for the way things turn out. I met a man over 6 years ago, he was my supervisor. I was married at the time. I recently went through a bitter divorce where honestly was the biggest issue. I had been planning to meet up with this friend for drinks a few months and finally we were able to mesh schedules. Half way through it somehow became a date! We have been nearly inseparable ever since and I was able to connect to him in ways I never thought I would with another person! I am SO thankful!

Wow, when you stop to think about it…. which thing do you pick as the MOST thankful for??? There’s so many things to be thankful for it’s hard to pick JUST ONE! I’m going to pick — that I was brought up in a family that loves Jesus and taught me about him from the time I was tiny.

Well, this might be a little bit of a depressing thankful msg, but it’s the way I am feeling this year. I am thankful that when my husband was diagnosed with colon cancer in June, it was stage 2, instead of stage 4. He had surgery and now has a bad infection and is on antibiotics. I am thankful that after months of him being sick, it seems like his infection might be a little better. So….I am thankful that we won’t be at the hospital on Thanksgiving (hopefully) Kiss your family members everyday and tell them how much you love them!!!

I am thankful for my husband, 4 boys, and all of my family. I know I am fortunate to have my family living so close to me and I don’t have to go weeks, months or years to see them. I am also thankful that we all genuinely like to be around one another and we can laugh and have fun when we get together.

I am thankful for crockpot recipes which allow me to share meals with others who are suffering from health issues or those who are grieving. Their meal cooks while I teach school.
Another thing that I’m thankful for is my UTMB-Galveston medical student, Patrick, & his willingness to try something new. He has NEVER cooked for himself before this school year and is now a huge fan of Crockin’ Girls cookbook. I am so proud of his efforts and the pride that he has in the successful meals that have been prepared so far. He takes a picture of each Crockin’ Girls dish that he has made and sends it to me. Patrick now has a reputation for cooking and sharing with other med students.

I am most thankful to be out of a bad relationship that was dangerous. With drugs and bad company. To reunite with my 3 daughters and 6 grand kids. They moved me back to my home town and and helped me get an apart. For seniors of disabled people. I tried to make it on my own in a town where I knew no one and had to get room mates to live on my disability! My family is my greatest bless right under mr God.

I know this sounds funny, but I am really thankful for my slow cooker/crockpot! Even before I found your site, I had been collecting and trying slow cooker recipes. As a stay at home mom of small children, the slow cooker has been a key tool for feeding my family and keeping my sanity! My day goes so much better the moment I put the lid on the cooker, knowing that dinner is all but done! At the end of the day, when the kids become whiny and clingy, I am much less stressed knowing that dinner will be ready!

I am thankful for being out of the hospital. I still am not well enough to travel and be at the big family gathering, but I am thankful that I have come this far toward being healthy again. And I am thankful for my crock pot. Since it will be just my husband and myself, and I’m not feeling 100%, I will probably not cook a big Thanksgiving dinner this year. The slow cooker will be PERFECT!

I am thankful for where my life is now. I am coming being fired, from my family being evicted, my parents leaving me stranded and homeless, and living in a car for the past three months. I was able to leave New Jersey before the storm hit, thank God, move to Ohio, and now I am in my new apartment and starting a new job. Most of all, I am thankful for the transition that has occurred in my life.

I am most thankful for my family and all that the word “family” stands for. Family is the memory of my parents, grandparents, and aunts and uncles. It also is the enjoyment of my sister and brothers as our family changes and as my children grow up. Family will still change as we now are becoming the older family members. Family also represents all the traditions that have been passed on to my generation and the recipes we now cherish. We must all celebrate family and the future our family holds. It sure looks different on this side of the family tree. Cherish traditions, memories, and family foods. Yum! I even know how how to make some of my family favorites. Let’s pass them on to our children.

I am most THANKFUL for my three children (25, 23 &19). I know everyone says they are thankful for their children, but on Saturday a young man in our community passed away after having fought cancer for 3 years. He was 22 years old. It just made me ask why him and his family and not my family and to thank God that it was not my family having to go through this. It could have been our family and it has made me really stop and look at my children and be even more thankful for them.

I am most thankful for getting to see my family once this year. This will be the second Thanksgiving in a row, I have missed. I am hoping to be with them all for this Christmas though! I wasn’t home last year for Christmas either. I have realized how much we take the simple and little things for granted. Missing holidays, birthdays, and niece’s and nephew’s grow up is difficult. I am thankful for the true meaning of family. I will get to come home to celebrate Jesus’ birth while also celebrating my little one to come. :-) To finally be reunited with my husband and family!

I am thankful that on October 25th this year, my wife and I found out that she doesn’t have ovarian cancer. We have been through a lot this past year. Her health was deteriorating and we didn’t know why. Her Drs. found growths on both of her ovaries, (one the size of a softball). The possiblility of cancer soon loomed over both of our lives. Surgery was scheduled and we began to prepare ourselves for life changing possibilities. Fortunately the growths were benign and non cancerous. God is good.

I am thankful this Thanksgiving for my family. In July I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I have since had a double mastectomy and am currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments. Through it all, my family has been my rock. My husband has become a very good cook. He has made many meals from my Crocking Girls cookbook. (He’s actually used it more than I have at this point). My sons and my daughter-in-law, as well as my sisters, are always ready to cheer me up and provide any help I need. I’ve always been thankful for my family but this year I’d just like to shout it from the rooftops!

I am thankful for my Son Daniel. Even though he has left the nest, whenever I need help with the house he will come over and assist me. I am also thankful for his girlfriend (hopefully the mother of my future granbabies) for taking over the cooking duties for all the holidays. I bring a couple of sides and a empty rubbermaid dish for leftovers and I am done! (muah) Liz

But this time of year I always look back on the birth of my son and feel really thankful, he was born weighing 1 pound 9 ounces! There were times when we were unsure if he would make it, but he did, now he is a happy healthy 2 year old full of boundless energy!! I am so thankful that God answered my prayers!!

I am thankful for my beautiful children and my mom and the rest of my family. I am thankful for so many things. God is so good. I’ve had heartache and loss over the last five years but I am so blessed. I’ve learned that when one door shuts, God opens another one. I have wonderful friends and a good job. So much to be thankful for. This holiday season brings us closer together with the sharing of great food and precious time spent together. My grandmother and my mother taught me to cook and I’m carrying on the tradition by teaching my daughter to cook. Some great recipes handed down over the generations. Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and a blessed Christmas season.

I’m thankful for my family being stronger than a year ago. We have had a very rough year with my daughter being bullied at school and having rumors spread about her that were not true . At one point, we were considering moving to get away from all of it, but my daughter decided to stay and face it. I can honestly say (she) we are stronger today because of it, my daughter is back at the same school and the bullying has stopped. :-)

We are a very close family and watching your crockin videos and the meals that i have prepared reminds me of some sunday meals that my mom used to prepare! Thank you so much for allowing me to pass them on to my own family!

Life is short, and we have lost a lot of family and friends these past few years. And we usually spend time with our cousins in Indiana but do to my sister losing her car in a accident and other things that keep coming up, we won’t be able to this Thanksgiving. But greatful for being able to spend Thanksgiving with my sister, niece and brother and his family and my childhood friend for the past 38yrs. And see my son and grandkids for Christmas. This is going to be good.

In the last few years, I have lost a lot of loved ones – two aunts, two cats, my dog, my father, and this August, my brother-in-law. With every loss, I have had two choices: become bitter and angry, or become even more grateful for my memories and for those I still have. This year, I am most thankful for my weird, wonderful, exhausting, yet unconditionally loving family.

We celebrate and feel so blessed that my youngest son is still cancer free and that both of the boys are wonderful and kind young men. I’m reminded how thankful I am for my family and the little things in my life. Just losing my father, the holidays will seem to forever take on a sad atmosphere. But the love, memories, laughter and even conflict of family will see each of us through to where we will enjoy each holiday once again. I’m looking forward to cooking with my Mom in a few days with family surrounded around us. =)

I’m thankful for the opportunity to be home with my son. My job was outsourced as of June 1st. With the severance I have been able to stay home with my son. I work with him everyday to over come his severe speech delay. I’m do proud of how far he’s come in the past 5 months. He was my miracle baby and would do anything for him.

We are so blessed to live in this great country, even with all it’s problems. I am so thankful, and love that here in this country, if a disaster strikes, people are willing to roll up their sleeves and do whatever is required to help those that have been affected. It inspires others to do the same, bringing out the best in people. What a wonderful example of the way God meant for us to help one another. And one of the most wonderful ways to help is to cook a wonderful crock-pot meal and bless someone with it that may be going through a tough time. It just lifts their spirit and gives them hope that tomorrow might be a better day!

I am thankful for family. Thankful that despite the health challenges I have been dealt, that I am surrounded by caring friends and a supportive husband. My boss recently shared an Irish blessing with us during a company lunch that I will sharing with my family on Thanksgiving:
May those that love us, love us.
And those that don’t love us,
    May God turn their hearts.
And if He doesn’t turn their hearts,
    May He turn their ankles
So we will know them by their limping:-)
—Have a blessed Thanksgiving to you all!!!

I am thankful for my loving family. I am also so thankful for my crock pot! After staying home for eleven years with my children I started back to work a few years ago as a teacher. My crock pot is now a part of my daily routine. It helped me with being overwhelmed when I went back to work and tried to keep my house running. I love the crockin girls recipes and use them often!!

I am thankful for the blessing of living in the USA and for the freedom we have in America. And I am thankful for all who have made freedom possible for us! Even with all the disagreements we have and the division we feel, especially in election years, we are so very blessed and should not ever let that fact get lost in the bickering. :)

I am most thankful for having two of the most amazing Grandparents that taught me such valuable morals and values along the way and gave me courage to stand up for what I believe in. They aren’t here with me any longer physically – but I know they are in Heaven – waiting for me to join them again some day.

I was blessed and fortunate enough that my parents never had to send me to daycare and I got to stay with them and yes I must admit – I did get spoiled but I did do my best when I got older to spoil them in return as well.

    Happy Thanksgiving.

I’m thankful this year that my mother is recovering from surgery and will be able to join us for Thanksgiving along with my brother and his family. I’m also very thankful for the Crockin Girls who have changed the way I cook and have helped me lose weight after being overweight for 20 years. Crock pot cooking can be healthy and the food tastes so good that my family doesn’t even know that it’s lower in fat or sodium free. :)
