“Favorite gift to Give: My husband is military, and we surprised our parents for our 3rd Christmas at our first duty station. We had received Christmas leave the year before, so told our families that we didn’t get it that year. Seeing the looks on everyone’s faces and their reactions when we surprised them was so awesome and so much fun!”
Sharon
“Last year I went to the website shutterfly. I gathered a lot of pictures from computer of all the different things my husband and I had done throughout the year. Put it all together in the form of a book and “wrote” little things on each page. He loved it, almost cried, said it was the nicest thing anyone ever gave him.”

Janelle
“My greatest gift received is seeing my children and their faces light up on Christmas. Nothing is more precious than a child on Christmas morning sitting in a pile of wrapping paper playing with their gifts. It is also a gift for me to be able to spend time with my family, enjoy good food and fellowship together. This Christmas will be extra special because I am graduating from RN school just before Christmas! So excited to be finished!”

Kasey
“My favorite gift was last year my husband surprised me with my fourth crock pot! He kept making fun of me and said there was no way I was going to get a new crock pot, thats silly. Well I got it! Love him!”

One of my favorite gifts that I’ve given was for my husband. In a small box, I put 365 little 1-inch square cards, each with a different reason why I love him. I gave the box with instructions to read one every day for the coming year.

One of my favorite gifts I have ever received was when my husband gave me a pair of Ugg Cardy’s boots for Christmas. Now, I do love my Uggs but the reason it’s my favorite gift is b/c he told me he was so overwhelmed when he went to the store between style and color,he didn’t know which boots to buy. So, he asked several women and associates at the shoe store which they would want? I love that he put the effort in to take a pole first! Lol.

My favorite gift was not the gift itself but the presentation of the gift. My husband was deployed and was not able to be home at Christmas. My children were 16, 13 and 6 that year. Many of our traditions were broken that year, we put up an artificial tree instead of a live one (can you see me getting a live tree to stand up straight?) , my oldest son put on the star rather than my husband, and the annual reading of the Christmas story from the book of Luke on Christmas Eve was not going to be the same either. No shopping together getting ready for “Santa” to come or spending hours in front of the tree on Christmas Eve waiting for the kids to fall asleep. I was very sad, but trying to be upbeat in front of the kids.
My husband and daughter had worked together and sure enough on Christmas Eve, the story was read by my husband via Skype. Even though a certain Santa, by “himself” had built a bike, filled stockings, and wrapped gifts. When “he” awoke in the morning, more presents had appeared. My husband had sent money to my daughter to make sure I had presents too. He knew that I would never buy for myself.

My favorite gift I’ve received was bringing my son home from the hospital. He was born prematurely and we weren’t sure if he would get to come home in time for Christmas or not. He was released on the 21st of December that year and we were able to spend Christmas as a new little family.

My favorite gift is the new crockpot my teenage daughter got me last Christmas. She got a larger one so she would have plenty of meals I could crock and freeze for her to take to college.

My favorite gifts were photo ornaments made by my kiddos when they were in elementary school. Now that they are college students, we still put those ornaments on our tree, and the boys love seeing themselves!

My favorite gift was a crock pot recipe book that my 11 year old son brought home for me from his school book fair. He knows how much I love crock pot cooking and thought it was perfect for me. And it was!

I was just remembering this morning a gift my husband and I gave my parents seventeen years ago — a baby doll, with a birth announcement attached, announcing the anticipated arrival of a grandbaby in July of the following year! Sixteen years later, their grandson (our son) is over 6 feet tall, a wonderful young man, and we are truly thankful every day for God’s precious gift to us! Incidentally, that same year my parents gave to all of the family horse-drawn carriage rides through Kansas City Crown Plaza area and supper at a seafood restaurant, which made me sick to my stomach due to the pregnancy! But I couldn’t tell anyone because it was before we’d exchanged gifts!

It was the 3 story “Painted Ladies” doll house that I gave to my eldest granddaughter. It took about a year to build, but it was worth all the work to see the look on her face when she received it.

My favorite part of Christmas is giving a gift! I design and make jewelry, so I carefully make a list of each person and make a personalized jewel gift for them!
For the men, I get a bottle of wine and make personalized wine charms that represent the men!
    So fun and rewarding!

My favorite gift was a list of the 25 reasons that my husband loves me. They ran the gamut from endearing to naughty, thoughtful to hysterical…little things that I would not have even thought he noticed to some that took all the strength I had to accomplish. That list is on MY LIST of exactly why I love him more than ever!

My husband wanted to give me ski’s, but, knew I wanted to pick them out. So he spent days making a ski set & skier with the money for me to open. I loved that he was so creative and spent the time making this special gift for me. He is one of a kind!

My favorite gift given was last year for Christmas I hired an art student that worked in my office and had her free lance draw charcoal portraits of each of my grandchildren! My husband and I got really nice frames and had glass cut for them then mounted them along with the grandchildren’s names and birth dates. They turned out beautiful and our children LOVED them! It was such a personal gift and unique…they couldn’t believe how great the pictures turned out! :0)

My favorite gift was my youngest son, he was due on Christmas eve and was showing no signs of coming, while at a drs appointment, the dr kept getting interrupted with others asking to be induce so they could be home for Christmas. After the fourth one , my dr looked at me and said you have never ask and have 2 young kids at home also, would you like to be induce. My husband and I decided to and brought home our third boy home on Christmas eve. It was a wonderful first Christmas with our complete family.

I think my favorite Christmas gift was a doll house my parents made me. I was 7 years old and I can still remember getting it. My parents both built it for me and they made some of the furniture for it. It was three stories and I loved it. They had a family of four dolls which fit perfectly in it. Of course my little brother got ahold of it and twisted the heads off. But I played with that dollhouse for years When I had daughters, my father repainted it and gave it to them. I think I played with it more than they did! I still have it and I will pass it on to my future granddaughters too.

When my son was in the first grade or so, he made me a framed handprint with one reason why he loved his mom… his read “I love my Mom, she makes good chicken”.

Of course, it was a crock pot chicken recipe :-)

I am a fan of Donny Osmond. I know that it dates me but, my husband surprised me a few weeks ago. He asked me who may be coming to a church fundraiser in January. I always answer with Donny Osmond no matter who is coming to any function. Well this time, which I had no clue he will be coming to a fundraiser. I told him I am ordering tickets as the church is just 30 minutes away. He said, “Well”…. and handed me some paper. I looked and he had already ordered them, but that isn’t all. He told me to look closer and then I realized I not only go and see him perform, but I get to meet him afterwards! Oh, I’m so excited and I love my husband so dearly. My reaction to this need to say the least was something like you would see on Funniest Home Videos and my daughter even recorded it. I scared our 18 month old grandson too.

There you have it. I have read some of the other comments and I am sure they are more eligible for it but I thought I would throw this in.

By the way, am making both dishes for Thanksgiving. They are old recipes but we have not had them in ages and they sounded and looked so good!

    Happy Crockin’!

My favorite Christmas gift(s) EVER were the jammies and robe that my kids picked out for me with a friend a few years ago. They wanted to get me something SO bad but of course they didn’t have the money. My friend offered to take them shopping and told them they could spend “X” amount on me. Apparently my kids thought that was like a million dollars so to be able to get me jammies AND a robe was quite a big deal to them. I still wear them every winter and love them just as much now as I did the day I unwrapped them!!!

Growing up as a youth I was alwaysinvolved with my youth group. Every year (teenagers) would get money and go buy Christmas presents for others that were less fortunate. It was an amazing experience to be able to give those gifts to those who weren’t even expecting it.

My favorite gift that I have received every year since my sister had kids, is the picture calendar she sends me for Christmas. Every year when the new one arrives and I put the old one away, I look through the old pictures, and it brings back so many good memories. I appreciate the pictures so much, especially since they are 5000 miles away.

My favorite gift was 2 years ago when my son was able to come home from the hospital after being in the NICU for 6 weeks and being able to spend Christmas at home with him and his brother. We spent his 1st Halloween and Thanksgiving in the hospital, but he made it home in time for Christmas.

The best present I ever got was when I was 6 years old. My baby sister was born on Dec. 23rd and I cried when I learned that she and my mom would have to stay at the hospital until after Christmas (they kept them longer back then). When the doctor heard that I had cried, he released them to come home on Christmas day. I’ll never forget the sight of my mom coming out of that elevator in a wheelchair and holding a tiny little bundle in a red stocking that said “I’ll be home for Christmas!”

I love Christmas but my favorite gift over the years was a visit from my daughter and her children to surprise me on my birthday. She lives in another state and it is a twelve hour drive. My husband and I had been out and when we walked in the grandchildren jumped out and yelled “Happy Birthday”. Of course, I started crying which made all the grandchildren start crying. They were too young to understand they were tears of joy!

My favorite gift I ever gave was to my mama. She had gotten a crazy looking chicken picture from one of her coworkers. It was a chicken with leopard skin. She said that her coworker said it was a print of a real chicken. I picked on her about it the rest of the year. It was one of our special jokes. Then when I was out Christmas shopping for my family I saw two more pictures of chickens with other wild animal skins. They were in the same frame and everything. It was perfect. When she opened her present that Christmas she started laughing and crying at the same time. She said it was like I looked into her heart and that she felt deeply loved. She died a few years later. Those pictures hang in my kitchen now as a reminder of our joke and our love for one another.

My favorite Christmas gift was a fish tank with a goldfish for me and my younger sister. It was my favorite because of the way we “found” it. We were finished with Christmas morning and sitting in the kitchen eating breakfast when we realized we heard an odd bubbling sound coming from the den. Our parents couldn’t help but to smile so we raced downstairs to find the tank all set up and with a fish for each of us in it. I named mine Fluffy, you know a regular old fish name. It was our first pet ever!

the greatest gift i ever received was on my 30th birthday which fell right after the holidays were over. I was 8 months pregnant with my first child and my mother gave me my grandmother’s diamond eternity band which she had been wearing for 20 years. It had been passed down to her on her 30th birthday and my grandmother had worn it for 20 years before. My grandmother passed away when i was 20 and for my mother to pass along her ring meant the world to me. I wear it every day and only take it off to sleep. It is a symbol of love and strength and I treasure it dearly. While I will be sad to part with it in the future, I look forward to one day passing it on to my daughter when she turns 30.

My favorite gift is actually one that I gave. Last year around the holidays I made each one of the cooks and managers at the restaurant I worked for bags of cookies, candy, and treats as a thank you for all of their hard work throughout the year. They had no idea u was doing it and some of them didn’t even like me but they all still got a gift from me and they were very great full. The greatest gift I believe is the ability to give and bless someone else!

My favorite gift I ever gave was to my mom, we were living in Korea and just found out I was pregnant with a boy! Typically my favorite is giving gifts, but this year for my 50th birthday my husband went to great lengths to “make me a winner” in the publishers clearinghouse sweepstakes! I received an official sweepstakes winner envelope with $10 for every year of my life. He was so excited and even kept it a secret until my birthday, unlike the year he was so excited to give me a scooter for my birthday and didn’t realize it was a month early. :)

The first Christmas after my Mom passed my Dad bought us new CrockPots. Two inserts and programable. I was floored. Dad never shopped for us before (well there was the train set for the tree he bought ME when I was one – might be why Mom took over :) I’d never had such a fancy slow cooker before.

Just this week, someone handed me a check and said, “I just wanted to bless you somehow.” It was so unexpected and came at a time that was much needed. The only “stipulation” was that I return kindness to someone else in need one day. It is one gift I am happy to re-gift.

The best gift that I have received was a copy of the Crockin Girls Cookbook. I love the fact that it has pictures with every recipe because I am a visual person. If it looks appetizing, it does not matter as much as what the ingredients are as I know it will be good. The recipes are clearly written and simple to follow. I plan on putting a smile on several people by giving the gift of one of these cookbooks to several people on my list.

My favorite is not the gift itself but rather thinking of what would be the perfect gift to get someone. It really gets the creative juices flowing and I enjoy racking my brain to figure out what I think they would like the most. Gift giving is an awesome challenge!

My greatest gift received is seeing my children and their faces light up on Christmas. So excited to be finished!

One of my favorite gifts is when we get plane tickets to spend the holidays with family. Being in the military, we don’t get to see our family very often, but the years we do make them even more special! I love it when we can go home for the holidays, that is always the best gift…that and feeling my mom and dad’s arms around me when we get there. :)

My favorite gift…my crockpot of course. My sister-in-law gave it to us last year and at first I was thinking…”great, now I have to cook more!” But, I found Crockin’ Girls and haven’t regretted a single recipe!

My best gift was my two children and my service dog. I waited 33 yrs to have kids. Just after that I came down with blood clots in my legs (DVT). Lost my marriage (another good thing) and has now taken me about 12 yrs to get to 80% of my abilities to walk and stand. My son is my most prideful gift. Helpful good in school. Very understanding. This yrs as was last we have no place to go for the holidays. I have learned to eat MANY lbs of 15 bean soups. We have food stamps and this and lentils are a great source of foods. Best up til now I have reversed my diabetes, HA 1 from 10.4 to 6.2 in a few months. I have now have neurophy throughout my body. But I am staying positive for my kids and my service dog.

    Great website. God Bless

My favorite gift given – giving each of my daughter-in-laws the Crockin Girls cookbook. They love it and I know the people I care most about have an easy way to eat well. Favorite gift received is a calendar with pictures of loved ones for each month!

My husband loves trying new beer. So last year for his Christmas present I surprised him with a road trip to visit a couple breweries in Missouri. I didn’t tell him where we were going, I just told him to get in the car and we started driving. It was a perfect day and the perfect gift for him. I’m not sure how I will top it this year.

My favorite gift of all time is when my son was about 3 yrs. old he took a shoe box and on the inside drew four little stick figure people and wrapped it up and gave it to me for Christmas and said “it was our family and I could keep it.forever.”and twenty years later I still get that box out and look at it each Chistmas.

One year, my younger sister and I had one of oure older sister’s baby dolls restored. Crystal (the doll) was cleaned, had her nails and lips painted and we picked out clothes for her too. Then we found a baby basket – the type you’d imagine baby Moses was found in – and along with a baby blanket, we tucked Crystal in the basket. Our older sister was so excited when she saw Crystal!

Last year I went to the website shutterfly. I gathered a lot of pictures from computer of all the different things my husband and I had done throughout the year. Put it all together in the form of a book and “wrote” little things on each page. He loved it, almost cried, said it was the nicest thing anyone ever gave him.

As I look back on it, the best gift I received was a giant bag of coal from Santa when I was a kid. As a parent now, I realize that it was hilarious and I must have been a very naughty girl that year. The gifts I love to give are homemade. With price limits for family gifts, it’s the best way to get a bang for your present buck. last year I made a trio of homemade pastas to go with a serving bowl.

My all time favorite Christmas gifts I’ve ever received would have my Wonder Woman Underroos back in 1977(?)! I was so excited tha I happily modeled it for everyone in front of the Christmas tree! I still remember my parents, granparents, aunts & uncles saying how someday these pictures would come back to haunt me when I brought boys home. …and they sure did! Doesn’t matter though, I’m stil mighty proud to be Wonder Woman!!

I actually haven’t received a gift in several years, my husband and I haven’t been able to afford to exchange gifts. The best gift given was to my Mom and Dad, I found a bunch of candies from their childhood that they loved and wrapped them up and gave it to them for Christmas last year.

My favorite gift would have to be one I received from my Mother when I was a teenager. I had asked for a Kiss album and when she got to the store she was overwhelmed and confused so she chose “I’m a little bit country” by Donny and Marie – not even close – lol.
    I love my Mom!

The best Christmas was in Dec. 1990 when my son was born. I had blood clots 10 weeks into the pregnacy and told I could have an abortion. My blood clot doctor said he could get me and my child through this rough time and with faith we continued on. I gave myself 3 injections of heprin a blood thinnera day and on Dec. 16 my healthy son Ethan was born. I went through the same with my second child and she was a father’s day gift. God has been good to me.

Absolutely love my pinch clay pot from my son. He made it at school, wrapped it himself & put it under the tree. The look on his face when I opened it was so precious. It was especially heart warming because my grandmother (the woman that raised me) had saved a pinch pot that I made in kindergarten & had recently given it back to me. My grandmother has passed, but each time I see the pinch pots I am reminded of my son’s thoughtfulness & my grandmother’s extraordinary love.

One year my daughter asked for a ‘kick and go’ for Christmas. I looked everywhere and couldn’t find one – I didn’t even know what it was. I asked her again and again to explain to me what it was, and she did her best, but I just wasn’t understanding. I got her other gifts, but I was disappointed at not being able to give her the ONLY thing she had asked for. On Christmas Eve day at work, during a coffee break, one of my co-workers told me she knew what a ‘kick and go’ was and where I could get one. It was a scooter with a kick pedal and was only sold at Honda dealers. I phoned the local Honda dealer, they had only the floor sample left, and I had them hold it for me till I could get down to pick it up. On Christmas morning, my daughter saw that scooter in front of the tree and turned to me and said, “Mommy, THAT is a kick and go!”

The best gift I ever gave was with my older sister to our younger sister. I was in college and my older sister was married and had a family. The younger sister was about 12 or 13 years old. We bought a box of lifesavers that they come out with every Christmas. I was working in a jewelry store and we bought her a beautiful birthstone ring. We carefully opened the lifesaver box and put the ring in one of the spots. When she opened the present her face fell because it was only lifesavers. She cried when she found the ring. It was the best feeling to see her so suprised and happy. She realized we really did love her.

Last year, I made a jelly of the month club for my dad with 12 different flavors of jelly. We love the scene from Christmas Vacation where Clark gets his jelly of the month club gift. My 6 year old son dressed like the messenger from the movie and delivered it with the same movie lines. It was amazing and my dad said it was the best gift ever.

My favorite gift I was ever given came out of a family tradition. Growing up my parents read us the same book every Christmas Eve just before we went to bed. The book was “The City That Forgot About Christmas”. I now have my own children and three years ago my father searched all over the internet and found tgree copies of the book for my sisters and I. I was so excited when he gave me the book two days early because I could start the same tradition with my children.

Favorite gift given: My husband is military, and we surprised our parents for our 3rd Christmas at our first duty station. We had received Christmas leave the year before, so told our families that we didn’t get it that year. We purchased our plane tickets and only told my sister-in-law (so she could pick us up from the airport) and my mom’s boyfriend (so he could keep her from purchasing plane tickets to come see us). After my sister-in-law picked us up from the airport, we surprised my in-laws first. My mother-in-law started crying (she had been having a difficult year, as her mother’s health was quickly declining), and my father-in-law was so stunned that he just sat in his chair staring at us for a minute or two. After a few days with the in-laws, we drove the 2.5 hours to see my parents. We surprised my mom at work, and she starting crying as soon as she saw us and said that she didn’t want anything else for Christmas. My dad was shopping when we surprised him, and his response was the biggest grin I’ve ever seen on him. The surprise was made even more special, because that ended up being my mother-in-law’s mother’s last Christmas, as she passed away in early December the following year. Seeing the looks on everyone’s faces and their reactions when we surprised them was so awesome and so much fun!

Favorite gift received: Four weeks to the day after my husband and I got married, he was in the hospital having emergency surgery for an appendicitis that had been misdiagnosed twice as gas by his primary care physician. Since it took so long for a correct diagnosis, by the time they performed the laproscopic surgery to remove the appendix, it was already perforated. As a result, it came apart as they were removing it, spilling all of the contents into his abdomen. They cleaned it up the best they could, and he came through the surgery just fine, but had some issues during recovery that kept him in the hospital for a week. He was released a few days before Christmas and was able to spend the holiday with our families, before he went back into the hospital for a second emergency surgery to clean out the mess left in his abdomen from the first surgery. Having him home for our first Christmas as a married couple and having him survive two emergency surgeries within a few weeks was a such a blessing and a wonderful Christmas present.

One Christmas my mom could not afford to buy us presents, or even decorate our home. She was a single mom going to college, and trying to support my two sisters and I. Someone at the college entered her name on the giving tree. We woke Christmas morning to a decorated living room, stockings full, and presents under a tree. What a surprise! I truly understood the gift of giving that day. :)

My most cherished gift was from my uncle. He was very sick and knew he wouldn’t be around for long. He gave me a beautiful cross necklace with a verse on the back. Also included in the box was a picture of him. He has been gone for several years now and I still wear the necklace and pull out the picture from time to time when thinking of him. It’s my little piece of him that I will always keep close to me.

Your review has been submitted and should appear on the site shortly.

One of my favorite gifts was from my son when he was very young. His dad took and let him pick out the gift and my son was very proud of his choice. He gave me a cheep initial necklace with his initial instead of mine, he did not get the initial concept. This to me made it special enough but it was even better the two more times he gave me the same exact necklace and was still so proud of his choice.
