While my hubby was deployed for his 3rd tour I decided to try out several different recipes before he came home on his 2 week leave last Dec. We ended up LOVING the to die for pot roast with amazing corn!! The roast makes great leftovers for sandwiches also! Chicken noodle cheese soup is also another favorite that is made regularly!! And our third favorite would be the bacon ranch slow cooked chicken! Now that my hubby is home for good, I get to enjoy cooking for him all the time!! Thank you for sharing your recipes & time with all of us!!

Stuffing…It is the recipe printed in the cookbook that was included with the first slow cooker I ever owned and my family has used it a lot. My mom always stuffed the bird and put it in the oven that way but we often do a smoked or deep fat fried bird so this is just the ticket.

Pork chops – dredge in flour/dry mustard/salt/pepper mixture; brown in skillet; arrange in crockpot & pour over one to two cans (depending on number of pork chops) of condensed chicken & rice soup. Cook on low for 4 or more hours. Sooooo tender & so good. And the sauce is good over rice or potatoes.

Well, I have to say, I LOVE this version of crock pot Mac and Cheese! Why? You put the noodles in dry, uncooked!!! Yep, you read that correctly! For me, dumping in the ingredients and starting the crockpot is the whole point!! I don’t like crockpot recipes that require other cooking steps first. This one is truly a one-pot dish. I got it many years ago from the newspaper. It is a tried and true one. Here ya go:

    Cooking oil spray
    2 cups skim milk
1 (12 oz.) can evaporated milk
    1 egg
    1 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
1 1/2 cups preshredded sharp cheddar cheese
    2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni

Spray the pot of the slow cooker or if using a liner bag, spray the bag well. In a mixing bowl whisk together milk, evaporated milk, egg, salt and pepper. Pour milk mixture into the crockpot. Add cheese and uncooked macaroni. Stir gently to mix.

Turn slow cooker on low and cook 3-4 hours, or until the custard is set and the macaroni is tender. (Do not cook more than 4 hours, or the sides will begin to dry out). Serve at once.

between the 3-4 hour mark on low, the edges start to get that crispy, cheesey edge. My kids love that part, but if yours don’t you’ll want to make this when you know you can cut it to warm or serve it at about the three hour mark.

The original recipe called for 1/4 tsp. salt , but I increased it for my own taste preferences.

Keep a tote of easy to grab stacks in the pantry and divide veggies up in snack size bags so when the kids pack their lunch they can just grab and go. Sandwiches are made the night before.

When you fix your daughter’s hair & she likes it, take a picture of it. Put those pictures into a little hairstyles photo album. Then before bed, she can look through the pictures & decide how she wants her hair fixed the next morning. It’s her decision, so no more tears about not liking the way you decided to do it.
